Running into a grumpy person can be a frustrating and annoying situation altogether. When Facebook user Brian Head Welch was grooving to a rap song "Let It Ring" by ASAP Preach, in his car, an elderly woman in the next car at the signal reached out to him. Initially, the approach made him brace for a heated confrontation. He thought she was going to comment on the kind of music or something. However, her next request made his day. Sharing on April 3, 2026, Welch revealed his immediate reaction upon hearing her unusual request, and it's an encounter worth sharing!

Welch was blasting the music when a fellow car driver, an elderly woman, asked him to roll down his window, and he asked what he was playing. At first, Welch thought it was going to escalate into an unnecessary confrontation and braced himself for it. She mentioned the beats he was listening to in particular, "What about it?" the man asked. That's when she said something that caught him off guard. She quickly mentioned that the beats were nice and then requested him to "play it louder." Impressed by her request, the man immediately turned up the volume as the elderly woman began grooving to the beats.Elderly woman driving car alone on road. In the video, the woman can be seen looking clueless as Welch began defending himself. However, when she began gesturing something, the online user caught on to it. Many commenters suggested that, in the end, the woman signed a "thank you," implying that she might be deaf or hard of hearing. In that case, there is a logical explanation for why she enjoyed the music. According to Musical Vibrations, deaf people often enjoy feeling vibrations, especially bass, which send tactile sensations. These high-intensity vibrations allow them to groove to the beats and feel the detail in music, be it the tempo, rhythm, and, to some extent, even the melody of the song being played. When Welch saw the woman, he assumed he might be judged for his music taste by her; however, in the end, her interaction warmed his heart.

Welch's video was loved by online users who shared their thoughts on it. Jeanette Myers wrote, "Me! That's me! Except not rap. Usually classic rock...there isn't a metal radio station!" Krystal O'Connell commented, "She might be hard of hearing because she said thank you in sign language." Robert Paul Evan shared, "She's deaf. And as a deaf person myself, the bass and vibration are an amazing experience. It's basically all we can 'hear.'"
