Man emailed more than 240 'Nicoles' in search of woman he met at a bar—got epic responses from them
How far do you go for love? Picture this, you’re at a bar and you see a pretty woman. You strike up a conversation but you just didn’t manage to get their contact. All you have is their name. What do you do? A student from the University of Calgary, Carlos Zenita, met a woman named Nicole at a bar, per PIX11. While the duo hit it off well at the bar, Nicole accidentally gave him the wrong number and the man was left with no way to contact her again. This young chap, however, was too invested in this encounter and decided to go on a quest to find Nicole, no matter what it took. What did he do? He sent out emails to around 240 'Nicoles' he could access to find his person.
The email’s subject line read, “Met you last night and you gave me the wrong number," per CBC News. This was followed by the message, “Hi, this is a mass email to all Nicoles if you don't fit this description then ignore and if you are the one and just don't want to talk to me, that's okay as well. If your name is Nicole and you're from Holland and you think Nietzsche is depressing then text me,” he wrote, per BBC News. When the student sent out the email in all hopes, he didn’t know the hysterical shenanigan he was up for. They removed him from the email and suggested each person title themselves as the “real Nicole.”
The email was boldly sent out to undergraduates and even deans, with no exceptions. “I just remember [there] being a lot of kind of witty, funny comments between Nicoles as we kind of got our heads around the fact that we had all been sent this email,” said Little, a student. What started as a quest to look out for a fine young woman ended up in the creation of a sisterhood of a sort. The conversations went on between the Nicoles and around 40 of them even decided to meet up. They created a Facebook page titled, “Nicole From Last Night” and had a bond created most bizarrely.
“I eventually made a lot of new friends on campus because of Carlos and we plan to maybe meet up once a month just to kind of hang out,” said Nicole Manaog, another student. The women were delighted to have crossed each others’ paths and enjoyed the online and in-person company. Having a strange yet relatable topic to connect with, all of them received a kickstart to have a bond. No matter their age, professions or other backgrounds, they connected and were appreciative of this newfound acquaintance. One of the students noted how she felt lonely during the year but thanks to Zenita and his email, she was able to find some friends.
While many Nicoles sent him the sweetest messages and support to find “the Nicole,” the woman unfortunately wasn’t part of the 240+ women on the list. Nevertheless, the Nicole movement that the man started, which evolved into a Facebook page did him one good. The actual Nicole stumbled upon the page and was delighted to reconnect with Zenita and take it from there.
