Man she met on Facebook Dating avoided sending a full-body photo for three months — their first date made her wonder if she’d been catfished
The first in-person meeting can reveal things that photos and messages never do. Sometimes, it can leave someone feeling as though they were catfished. That is what happened with TikTok user Kay Michellee, who goes by @darealkaymichellee. In a video she posted on July 15, 2026, she revealed how a man she had connected with on Facebook Dating never shared an important detail about his appearance through videos or pictures. When they finally met in person, the difference caught her completely off guard.
Michelle shared that she and the man had been talking for more than three months and had even video chatted, but he never sent her a full-body photo despite her asking for one. His dating profile also described him as 5'8" with an athletic build. When they finally met in person, however, she said she realized he was much shorter and "thicker" than she had expected. She believed that he had lied about his height.
Michelle explained that she likes to arrive at dates early so she can see the other person walk in and make sure everything feels safe. While waiting at the restaurant, she noticed a much shorter man than she expected walking toward the entrance but initially assumed it was a child. Moments later, she received a call from her date saying he had arrived. As he approached her table, she realized he was the man she had been talking to online.
She said it didn't bother her that he was short, but that he had described himself as 5'8" and repeatedly avoided sending a full-body photo when she asked. She said that she had been on video calls before meeting the man, but the camera never showed more than . According to Michelle, she felt the dishonesty mattered more than his appearance. "If you lie about something like that, you'll lie about anything else," she concluded. Although her date with the man went well and she described the conversation as pleasant, Michelle said she decided not to contact him again because she felt the relationship had started with a lie.
Michelle's experience also matches what researchers have found about honesty on dating profiles. A study on self-presentation in dating profiles found that it's common for people to make small changes to how they describe themselves online. Men were more likely to say they were taller than they really were, while women were more likely to report weighing less.
