She thought her second date was going surprisingly well — until what he did before they took a single bite made her box up her meal and walk out

What started as a great second date quickly became a dinner she'll never forget for all the wrong reasons.

Good dates are rarely remembered because everything went perfectly. They're remembered because both people make each other feel seen. Instagram user Lauren, who goes by @laurenslildiaries, shared how her date was far from good. Narrating her experience in a clip on May 2, 2026, she mentioned how nothing about the meeting initially felt unusual. But before either of them had even taken a bite of their meal, one unexpected moment completely changed Lauren's impression of the man sitting across from her.

The meeting was her second one, and clearly, things were going well. As they waited for their food, Lauren's date spotted a group of friends across the restaurant and excused himself to say a quick hello. She expected him to be back within a minute or two. Instead, much time had passed as he remained deep in conversation, leaving her alone at the table. Their food arrived, but he still didn't return. Feeling increasingly awkward, the woman realized she had been left sitting by herself while everyone around her watched the situation unfold. Rather than continue waiting, she asked for her meal to be packed up and quietly walked out.

Her decision came not just from the fact that he spent way too much time at another table, but because he completely neglected her. She tried catching his attention from across the restaurant, hoping he'd notice. When that didn't work, she asked a waitress if she could go and call him. The server walked over, tapped him on the shoulder, and told him his meal was ready. He replied that he'd be there in a second before dismissing her and continuing the conversation with his friends. That moment became the turning point. It suggested the delay was no longer an oversight but a choice. The viewers had some interesting insights. @jelatn said, "He’s clearly on a date with his boys now." @carlysimonexo commented, "If I were the server, I would have sent you home with the food and a free dessert, then brought him the bill." @brittlemaiden6 also wrote, "The insecurity of guys who have to get the approval of other guys."

What initially feels charming can suddenly take on a very different meaning once the conversation goes a little deeper. In another instance, a woman went on a first date with a fitness influencer from her city. The evening went so well that he texted her the following day, asking for a second date. He complimented her repeatedly, saying she had a rare presence and that he couldn't stop thinking about her. When they met, he kept watching a man seated at a nearby table because he believed the stranger was looking at her. He admitted he didn't like the idea of other men thinking they had a chance with her, despite having known her for only a single evening. What began as flattering attention quickly started sounding possessive. If anything, both cases are a reminder to be observant about words and actions before making any conclusions.
