Man's husband trying to wake him up from coma told doctors to 'put Coldplay on' — then, a miracle happened
Music holds magic. The rhythm, lyrics or even beats evoke healing, nostalgia, joy and many mind-boggling emotions. A song can speak to us in a way no one else can. Dylan Bode was touched by a song in a rather extraordinary way, per The New Zealand Herald. The man had met with a tragic accident and was in a coma when the doctors suggested something unusual and it worked. Aaron Bode, Dylan’s husband, played Coldplay's music and the man had an unbelievable response to it, leaving many in awe.
Baffled with the miraculous experience, the man came to the Coldplay concert in New Zealand in November. He held up a sign to let lead singer Chris Martin and other members know the impact they had on his life. “Your music woke me up from a coma! Can we sing about this 'Magic' together?” the sign read. Sharing his experience with The Hits Breakfast with Jono and Ben, the man explained his story. Dylan was in a coma for four days and his condition was so critical that many thought they’d have to pull the plug on him. There was nothing his family could do out of the regular treatments.
“They asked [my husband] what they can do to make me more comfortable. And he’s like, ‘Put Coldplay on. It’s the only thing that he’s loved since he was about 8 years old,’” Dylan recalled. Aaron shared in an Instagram post how he knew he’d want nothing more than to give his husband the peace of Coldplay. “I spent days weeping by Dylan’s side in the ICU. He was 100% reliant on a ventilator and there was very little faith from his medical team that he'd survive. They say you can still hear while you’re in a coma and I thought that if there was anything that would give Dylan comfort, it would be Coldplay,” he wrote.

After 24 hours of listening to Coldplay, the man somehow began regaining movement and consciousness. He recalled his first signs of waking up to be “playing air piano.” “It changed the whole course of the healing process,” Dylan remarked. “Coldplay was the treatment he responded to. On the brink of the end, he began tapping his fingers to the melody of their songs - to the beat - while still in a coma. He began responding more and more until he awoke,” the husband shared. Dylan shared that doctors and neurologists had been sure of only two outcomes- brain damage or death but music broke through magnificently.

He added that the doctors saw his movements to Coldplay’s “Fix You” and told his husband that he was "showing signs of being awake.” The man wanted to thank the band for their life-saving music. “I’m so grateful to be alive again and that they did this. I’m so grateful that their music had this impact on me,” he revealed. In an Instagram post shared by @zmonline, everything from Dylan’s signboard to the moment when he got to sing with his favorite artist was captured. The duo sat by the piano and sang one of the most impactful versions of “Magic” together. We can call this nothing less than magic and as Aaron rightly said, “His (Dylan's) connection to all music is utter magic to me but his connection to Coldplay is the strongest.”
