Some people need to learn to think before they speak, because their words can have a bigger impact than they realize. A Reddit user who goes by u/Spiky_Pineapple_2841 made it clear several times that he was healthy, despite appearing skinny, but felt uncomfortable with his boss's jabs about his weight. However, one day when his boss asked if he was going to eat, his shocking response about a "diet" shut him up instantly. Sharing the story on Reddit on February 13, 2026, the Reddit user revealed that his savage reply left his boss too embarrassed to meet his gaze for the rest of the day.

The user worked in an office that had predominantly more male co-workers. He was 6'7" tall and weighed around 154.3 lbs, and considered himself to be quite lean. He clarified that he did not suffer from any kind of eating disorder or other illnesses, and often pointed to his high metabolism for being skinny. However, his boss did not think so. He revealed that his boss, whom he referred to as "High Septon," often made crass jokes about him being underweight and called him "sparrow" in his native language. Although the Reddit user often let his remarks slide, he did not let them affect him any longer after one particular incident.

Recalling the incident, the Reddit user revealed that his boss had come over to his desk to ask something, when their discussion led to them talking about food. Falsely insinuating that he skips meals, the boss asked, "So, are you going to eat today, Sparrow?" The employee knew he had to do something to shut his mean boss up. Plotting a petty revenge, he responded that he was on a diet, which required him to lose 22 lbs, although he was in fact not planning to lose any weight. Shocked by his response, the boss stuttered and responded, "You can't do that! You're not really on a diet, are you?!"

However, the user shrugged it off and continued with his work, while his boss avoided eye contact or further discussion for the rest of the day. Concluding this post, he wrote, "If he says something more, I'm going to call him out. But for now, I will just continue to wallow in the awkward, tense environment I have managed to create."

Online users who were thoroughly impressed by the Reddit user's savage response praised him for his composure while being body-shamed, with some of them suggesting he report it to HR. u/alittlebooboo mentioned, "Is your boss super gullible or something? That would be an obvious joke to most people, considering how you've described your appearance here. Glad you got to needle him back though!" u/JeffTheNth remarked, "Anorexia... Diseases... Metabolism...all different reasons someone might be lighter. I'd report him to HR... Either he should show concern or keep his nose out, but not laugh." u/Top_Fill7182 wrote, "Been there many times. Been called a skeleton, match stick, and quite a few names. I am pretty active as well. I just say, 'I love being skinny. I worked hard for it.' They don't say a thing back."
