Men sitting behind him mocked his looks in Japanese, assuming he couldn’t understand — but his kind gesture left them red-faced
It's never right to speak ill of others in public, especially because you never know who might be listening. A TikTok user named Ademola Jola, who goes by (@ademolajola), was flying from the Philippines to Bangkok with his fiancée when he noticed the men seated behind him mocking him in Japanese, assuming he wouldn't understand the language. However, what Jola did next left the stranger shocked and embarrassed. Sharing the story with TikTok users on April 26, 2026, the man revealed how he taught the passenger a lesson using nothing but kindness.
Jola overheard three men talking about their fear of flying. Suddenly, one of them added that they were terrified to be traveling alongside a Black man. The trio was not only being disrespectful, but also racist. His companion warned him to be careful with his words, adding that they might get into trouble. However, the passenger dismissed his concern, cussing and saying he didn't care. There were different ways Jola could have responded to the cruel behavior. Yet, he chose kindness with perfection. A while later, the same man was about to throw up due to flight sickness. That's when he turned back and told him in Japanese, "You alright, bro? I have an extra bag if you need."
The stranger was left stunned after learning that all this while he had been talking ill of someone who knew his language. Recalling the story, Jola noted, "When I tell you all of the anger and rage in my body disappeared because I knew that he knew that I understood every single word that he said." And that was the most satisfying revenge. He added, "Nothing will beat that. I imagined that I'd respond to these with verbal violence, but I will continue with this new way. Killing with kindness is the peak way to deal with these a****les." He went on to share that the man was quiet the entire flight, probably rewinding the entire conversation that left him red-faced.

I'd be terrified too.'" @SamJamm212 shared, "Your emotional intelligence is through the roof. You handled that situation with such class." @Laciblack commented, "You proved that he was being discriminatory and rude, and you showed him that people can be kind in the face of adversity. You proved to him that he misjudged you."
