Fox Weather meteorologist Nick Kosir decided to make his reporting a bit cheeky by inviting popular rapper Fetty Wap into his video. The weatherman in the video surprised viewers by revealing that he would be slipping lyrics from the rapper's song "Trap Queen" into his weather report. In the video posted on his TikTok account, Kosir added the lines, "hey what's up hello," "Everybody hating we just call them fans though," "1738," among others. The weatherman sneakily added the lyrics into the report, which took viewers by surprise.
Kosir, known as "The Dancing Weatherman" on TikTok, teamed up with Fetty Wap, who provided the lyrics that could be used in the report. After deciding on the lines, Kosir revealed his excitement about adding them to the report, which impressed his online viewers. Weather reporting is often seen as one area where reporters can crack a joke, even if it's about serious topics like storms and heatwaves.
Unlike political and crime reporting, weather is something every citizen endures every day, which makes adding a sprinkle of humor relatively harmless. While most weather forecast reporters try not to deviate from the actual reporting to focus more on the lighthearted comments, striking a balance is often appreciated by viewers.
After all, who wouldn't mind watching weather news if it's delivered in style like Kosir's? While viewers curiously listened to the weather reporting, Kosir cleverly used the lyrics from the song in the report, which many people found natural and almost unnoticeable. For those unversed, "Trap Queen" was the debut single of rapper Fetty Wap, released in April 2014. The song was well-received upon its release; however, the rapper was arrested in 2022 for allegedly possessing controlled substances. He was released in January 2026 after being sentenced to six years.
Soon after the post gained massive attention online, many praised the meteorologist for his creativity. Fans of Fetty Wap were also delighted to see the rapper be part of something completely unexpected. @IshouldGetOffThisApp mentioned, "The fact that a majority of the news viewers probably don't notice or get it, makes it even better." @Titanstatted noted, "That was dope. I would actually watch the local news if it were like this!" @Cupcake remarked, "I taught my granddaughter 1738. She went to school, and a kid said 6…7… She said no, it’s 1738 (she’s in kindergarten)."
