Mom holding her baby on a bus wondered why a student left his seat to stand beside her — the reason behind his silent gesture warmed her heart
It takes real thoughtfulness to notice the little things and step in. One student did this for a mom named Laleine, who goes by @leinegalicia on Instagram. In her post dated September 25, 2026, she mentioned that she was on the bus with her infant when she saw the young man get up from his seat and stand beside her. At first, she thought he was getting off at the next stop. However, she later realized that he made that gesture for a special reason. The encounter became an unforgettable memory.
The mom had a doctor’s appointment with her son, Laurent, and was on the bus one afternoon. She was sitting with the baby in her arms. That’s when the student stood up and moved beside her. At first, Laleine thought he was getting off, but when he remained there, she realized he was just trying to help. Since it was afternoon, there was a lot of sunlight coming in straight onto the mom and her baby. She did her best to cover her son’s face with her hands. The young man noticed her struggling and stood beside her to block the light. For him to recognize Laleine's silent struggle and choose to step up spoke volumes about his gentle nature. “I felt so grateful for such a small but thoughtful gesture,” she said.
Laleine added that she was even touched to learn that he was just a student. She couldn’t help but praise his parents for the way they had raised him. She mentioned that she might never see the stranger again, but would forever remember his kindness. Not everyone who needs help will ask for it. Sometimes, it takes thoughtful people to recognize the situation and step in without being asked. Three college students did this for another young woman after they saw her pass out at a bar. She woke up on the couch of an unfamiliar apartment and couldn’t remember anything from the previous night. Later, she looked around and saw that three college students had brought her to their home because she was unconscious and alone.
They left her Gatorade, Tylenol, water, and something to eat. They’d also left her some extra clothes of their own that they thought might fit her. They had even brought her car from the bar to their apartment’s parking lot. In a world where something horrifying could have happened, these three gentlemen stepped in and made a difference. As a mom herself today, she only hopes she can raise her own son to be as thoughtful and selfless.
