As parents, we must teach kids, especially toddlers, what is right and wrong. Shaping them to be better humans in society is an important responsibility. While toddlers are still young and don’t understand as well, it is necessary that they get some understanding and make the right choices. Moreover, how we reprimand and help kids unlearn negative behaviors also plays an impactful role. A mom named Carey (@careymitchh) shared that she found out her son had bullied a girl on a school bus. The woman had mixed reactions and even initially refused to believe her son did something that cruel. Nevertheless, when she learned the truth, she took a top-notch parenting approach.

Carey mentioned that she received a complaint that her son called another girl on the school bus something “outside of her name” because she was Black. The mom’s immediate response to the accusation was, “Not my son. Ain’t no way that was my son.” However, when she realized that her son was in the wrong, she immediately called him to her room. While the woman was still on call, she confronted her son who was filled with guilt. He quickly apologized to his mom but she wasn’t settling without making this an important lesson. “I said, ‘What do you mean you’re sorry? You said it?’” the mom recalled. The little boy confessed to bullying his schoolmate and reportedly asked his mom “not to whoop” him.

A confused Carey cleared things, saying, “So you said it. You knew it was wrong. You knew it would get you in trouble. You knew I wouldn’t agree with it. So now you’re sorry because you’re caught.” The mom requested the girl’s aunt to give her their address and drove her son over to apologize. On the way, the mom had a decent conversation to ensure her son’s apology was upfront and honest. She also asked him to pick out some gifts for the girl as an apology.

Recalling what happened when they reached the girl's house, the mom said, “My son apologized, he gave her the gifts and they hugged before we left." She added, "I will not condone any wrong actions by my child. They will be responsible and accountable for whatever they do." The mom added that she was shocked that her son bullied the girl despite her “lectures” detailing how bad bullying is. “But one thing is for sure, he’s never going to do it again,” she concluded. Several parents applauded the unique approach the mom took towards settling the situation. Not only did the girl receive an apology, but the son also learned that his actions were wrong.

We shouldn’t be fighting each other, we should be resolving these issues and teaching kids.” @great_nanaof5 added, “I’m a bus driver and I wish we had more parents like you.” @divy1007 remarked, “As a black mom whose child also comes home crying, thank you.” @dee5893 added, “This is the embodiment of ‘It starts at home.” @rockchalk101 said, “You taught him and amazing lesson and allowed a girl to heal her hurt. Great work, mama!”
