Mom of stillborn baby broke down while returning baby clothes—cashier's kind response for her late child won hearts

Often, couples who are to become parents plan so much for their baby. From names, clothes and schools, everything has been thoughtfully picked out before the baby's arrival. No parent wants to think they might lose their baby. Similarly, a mom named Jacinta Jane from Australia also purchased clothing ahead of the birth of her son, Sammy, per The Metro. Unfortunately, her baby was stillborn, and the heartbreak was unbearable. When the mom went back to return the clothing and revealed the shattering reality, the cashier’s kindness became an unforgettable support.

Jane had purchased baby clothing from the Mount Gambier Best & Less store, but when her son tragically died in her womb, her world was torn apart. Amid that heartbreak, she couldn’t bear to look at the clothing and decided to return the items. However, Jane forgot to get the card on which she had purchased the clothes. Due to this, Jo Morrison, a cashier at the store, had to refuse the refund. Jane opened up about her devastating news, and when the cashier learned of it, she decided to help the grieving mom. Jane revealed her act of kindness in an open letter, per Love What Matters.

“You didn't know me. But I came into Best and Less this morning. I broke down and explained I didn't have the card and I was on my way to the hospital to be induced to have my baby who had passed away,” she wrote. Jane noted that in the “split second” that she mentioned her pain, Morrison instantly showed “sincerity” and called her manager to make things work. The cashier’s heart went out to the bereaved mom, and she got her the refund and went one step ahead. She asked whether Jane had a blanket to lay her deceased child. “I didn't. It was one of the things I had to buy that morning,” the troubled mom explained.

“You came and gave me a big hug and let me cry on your shoulder. You then took me to the blanket section and helped me pick out a blanket. Blue mink with white clouds on it,” Jane recalled. Morrison even paid for the blanket out of her own pocket, causing Jane to be moved by her compassion. A post was shared by The Border Watch of the mom and Morrison embracing each other while Jane clutched the blanket tightly. “I told you, 'You are such an angel.' I was lost for words. I didn't know how to thank you,” Jane added.

The mom made her way to the hospital, and with all the strength in her, she lovingly held her baby one last time in the very same blanket Morrison had helped her pick. “I don't know you. But I want you to know how thankful I am to have met you and thankful for what you did for me and my little Sammy," she remarked. "I just want you to know it brought so much comfort, cuddling his blanket through the contractions and then wrapping him in it when he was born." The mom also courageously shared a picture of herself holding her baby one last time with the blanket. "I'll never forget what you did for me and my baby,” she added.
Dee Ann Staub wrote, "Love to you and the cashier that went above and beyond." Faelyn Skye Catt added, "I am so glad that you had an angel watching over you in your time of greatest sorrow."
