The first thing to do when accidents or unprecedented occurrences take place is to keep calm and find help. Even though it may be scary and painful when these instances involve our loved ones, there is nothing more than timely action that can help. A woman named Anna Foran was saved after suffering a dangerous health issue, thanks to her son, Dion Hogue, per News 5 Cleveland. Foran suffered a cardiac arrest and the teenager stepped in to get help as soon as possible. Thanks to his smart and swift thinking, his mum was able to receive help and make a quick recovery.

The duo were at home when Hogue noticed his mom getting pale. Shortly after, the woman collapsed and passed out and Hogue was left alone to figure out what had to be done. He realized his mom wasn't breathing but made the smart decision to compose himself and not panic. He didn’t want his mom “to die,” and ensured that he did whatever was in his capacity to help. The boy immediately dialed 911 and explained the situation. Hogue was told that he needed to give his mum CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation).

The teenager had no idea how to administer the procedure and had no prior experience. Nevertheless, he paid careful attention to the dispatchers and sprung to action to follow their instructions courageously. “I was on the phone with the police (911). They told me to give CPR. They walked me through it,” Hogue recalled. He mentioned that he was frightened when he “felt” he broke a rib while administering CPR. However, the dispatchers explained that it was necessary to keep his mom alive. Soon, the police arrived and continued to administer the process until she was moved to the hospital.

Hogue’s older brother Keith Crayton was at the hospital and expressed his pride for his brother’s boldness. He acknowledged that such a sudden and scary situation can cause a person to go blank but his brother handled it well. “For somebody (Dion) to see mom go under cardiac arrest and stop breathing being 13 years old, that’s a lot of pressure. He did a great job. He was home alone and he brought my mom back to life,” Crayton remarked. The mom couldn’t recollect anything after she collapsed. She, too, thought her life was over. Thanks to the boy’s brave and strong reactions, his mum was saved and received the required treatment.

As she recovers, she is beyond grateful for her son and another chance at life. “My son, he saved my life. God is real and I was given a second opportunity. Like there’s a reason why I’m here,” she noted. “I know that I have a place here, and my journey is just beginning,” she remarked. With family, friends and many others supporting her as she recovers, Foran hopes to get better soon. “I know it’s a reason for me to be here with my children, with my family, just in general. It’s been a lot of support but they say it takes a village and in Bay Village, we definitely are a village,” she added.
