Parents might try to keep their children out of harm's way most of the time. But some situations are completely out of their hands. One mom experienced such a thing when she heard a Ring camera notification at 2 AM. She was shaken awake by the sound and was shocked to see what was happening. Her toddler was standing outside the door and was walking into the darkness. The mom, Greene, was startled, but saw her toddler turning back eventually. She shared the entire incident on Instagram, where she goes by @greenegray5. The video received over 159,000 views.

"Throwback to that time I woke up in the middle of the night to the ring alarm going crazy, a panicked phone call from my husband at the firehouse and a screaming baby in the living room," the text overlay of the video read. She recounted how her 18-month-old baby had climbed out of his crib, escaped his bedroom and had also managed to unlock the deadbolt. "And tried to go 'see his friends.'" The mom added, "Send help. We are going to need it. Especially for the teenage years." She thanked Ring for keeping their family safe during such incidents in the video's caption.

"Thank you, @ring, for keeping our family safe! Parenting a danger baby is not for the faint of heart," she went on. "It's like a Johnny Knoxville/ wild thornberrys/ Harry Houdini mashup all day, every day. And every time we think we've outsmarted him with our 'baby proofing,' we are humbled with a swiftness." In the video, the mom pointed out that the baby turned around and came back to the door because he was scared after walking a little. Many parents in the comments section of the video could relate to the mom's experience with her toddler son.

@lollyfloss wrote, "When I moved into my house, I didn't understand why the front door was like Fort Knox. They had three boys. After one boy, I was wishing I had left it all there." @raisingwildkeikis commented, "A family member's three-year-old son did this with my mother-in-law watching him overnight. She lives right on a major highway. Good thing a trucker saw him at three am and called the cops. They knocked on every door in the neighbourhood and found where he was staying." @lisa_m_tyrrell expressed, "My kid did this, she got through three locked doors just to watch the sunrise and then quietly came back inside."

@theaqua__rebel remarked, "When I moved into my house I noticed a drilled in lock all the way at the top of the door in the corner. I had it removed. I learned later from a neighbor that the previous tenant had a runner child. I then had my son Dash a few years later and first two years of his life, I should have kept that damn lock. He was fascinated with doors and locks after one." @kattteeeeeee shared, "My nine-month-old escaped out the gate through the cat door (just to the living room), put a showing front of it so when I tried to open it, it wedged and then climbed halfway up the stairs. I feel this. Dead bolt is too high if everything else fails."
