Mother walked out after repeatedly asking her loud boys to quiet down — what her husband said next left a diner disappointed
Partners are called to support their significant others so they can empower them to handle whatever challenges come their way. Unfortunately, not all understand this concept well. An Instagram user who goes by Boh, under the handle @bohonthego, shared a post on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, recalling how one family’s conversation left her disappointed. At a restaurant, she was sitting beside two parents and their boys. The latter were being exceptionally loud, and after they refused to stop, the mom left the table. The dad later made a comment that left her upset.
Since the woman’s table was very close to the family’s, the mom insisted the boys be softer so as to avoid disturbing others. The diner understood that the teens were young and were simply having fun. The parent repeatedly made attempts to quieten her boys, pointing out that she was overstimulated and would appreciate some silence. However, the duo refused, prompting her to leave the restaurant eventually. When she got up, the kids asked their dad what was wrong. He replied, “Your mom’s just overstimulated.” It wasn’t what he said but how he said it. The stranger beside them noted how his tone felt condescending, as if he were implying his wife was sensitive.
He could have chosen to explain to his boys, who couldn’t understand what a mental overload can feel like. He could have taken a more supportive approach, but he chose otherwise, leaving the diner upset. She noted how women generally tend to take in more than they realize. Every factor surrounding them makes a difference, creating mental overload. Women are also constantly “remembering, anticipating, noticing, organizing,” leaving their nervous systems broken by lunchtime itself. It was likely the case with the mom, but her family couldn’t understand that fact.
Though she believed the dad and kids could have handled the situation differently, she commended the mom. The woman noted how the mother could have snapped at her kids or just sat there until she was on the verge of a breakdown. However, she chose to be kind and prioritize herself. That balance deserved applause. Women have a long commendation due for being silent heroes, especially with the way they show warmth even after going through so much. It's truly an underrated superpower. In another instance, a mom was so overwhelmed that she called the authorities on herself instead of letting her mental load affect her babies.
The mom of three had barely been on two hours of sleep. While her husband was at work, she realized her 11-month-old accidentally consumed soil. On the other hand, her other two kids were recently diagnosed with diabetes. For her, keeping her babies alive became like a beeping alert in her mind. Unable to manage it, she called 911. “I needed the phones to stop beeping. I needed the kids to stop fighting. I needed the fear of trying to keep this baby alive to just subside for just a minute,” she said. The responders arrived, but couldn’t do much apart from giving the woman space to vent and cry. Yet, she was grateful. Her husband later arrived at home, and the duo navigated the situation together.
