Neighbor asked family not to park on the street in front of his house to appease his wife — only to receive surveillance photo catching her in the act
While people cannot always choose who lives next door, they can choose how they respond when a neighbor makes life difficult. One family had been putting up with their neighbor's bizarre behavior for years, but things took a funny turn when her husband got involved. In an updated Reddit post dated September 21, 2026, the family member, who goes by u/Common-Researcher-92, shared how their dad responded when the woman's husband asked them to stop parking in front of their house, and one simple screenshot seemed to put an end to the drama.
My neighbor has been cutting our plants for years (Update!)

The family had lived next door to the woman, whom they called Karen, for 15 years and had tried to keep things friendly. But about six years ago, they installed a security camera and caught her repeatedly sneaking into their side yard with scissors to cut their plants, even though nothing was overgrown or hanging over onto her property. The behavior kept recurring, and she even painted the sidewalk outside her house red to stop people from parking there, despite it being a public street. Months after the original Reddit post, Karen's husband emailed the family asking them not to park in front of their house because it would keep his wife happy. In response, the dad replied with a screenshot of Karen sneaking into their yard with scissors, and she hasn't crossed the fence since.

The dad's response seemed to do the trick. The family hasn't had any more trouble with her cutting their plants, though they aren't assuming the peace will last forever. Regardless, after years of dealing with the same behavior, one screenshot may have finally made her think twice. Reddit users loved the dad's response, with many praising him for letting the screenshot do the talking. "Dad with the finishing move," u/carmackie joked. Another commenter, u/Total-Object-4766, simply wrote, "Your dad is awesome!" Meanwhile, u/HerfDog58 had a more pointed take on Karen's behavior, commenting, "Karen really wants someone to file trespassing charges and get a restraining order placed on her."

This wasn't the only neighbor who struggled to respect other people's property. In a similar story, a homeowner's older neighbor was so bothered by the leaves in their yard that he actually jumped the fence and raked them into a pile. The homeowner waited until dark, then spread the leaves right back where they belonged. The next morning, the neighbor spotted the mess and started cussing. He seemed to think he could dictate what others did on their own property, but this homeowner had a cheeky way of getting the last laugh.
