New mom reveals the weekly schedule for a 'positive postpartum experience' — now other moms are obsessed

For many moms, the postpartum period is challenging. Apart from embracing changes in the body, they are also figuring out how to look after the newest member of their family. It can be exhausting or monotonous to keep going and postpartum depression can come into play. A new mom, Kerregan Calhoun (@kerregan_calhoun), revealed that she has a pre-planned itinerary that she follows Monday through Friday to have a positive postpartum experience. It includes work, fun and memory-making and is a compilation many moms are looking forward to. The mom explained that she and her baby look forward to the week because they have a fun agenda laid out.

Having the days pre-planned allows Calhoun to be free from worry and take the day as it goes. The mom mentions that Monday through Friday, she has a structured idea of what to do. She begins with “Meals and Move Mondays,” where she does grocery shopping, meal planning and things within the slot. It also allows her some movement and outings, making it less stressful and more relaxing. This is followed by “Treat Tuesdays,” which, as the name suggests, involves a good indulgence. “Treat Tuesday might be my favorite. I go and get myself a treat for the day,” Calhoun notes. This can be a coffee, a snack or something nice for her or the baby.

“With someone Wednesday” is designed for the mom to avoid getting overstimulated. She ensures she uses this day to spend time with loved ones other than her baby. “I feel like this is so important postpartum or you might go crazy,” she honestly says. It is followed by “Tidy Thursday,” where the mom dedicates time to cleaning and attending to any house chores that need to be completed. The week comes to a close with “Fun Friday,” which is open to Calhoun to choose. She goes through the day based on her idea of fun at the time, be it a day out, a walk, staying in or anything.

Having an agenda that’s not rigid but not chaotic at the same time is a massive breather for Calhoun. The mom acknowledges in her caption that this may not be the case for every mom after childbirth. She also notes that one needs a good partner, a supportive system and other prerequisites to make this kind of agenda a reality. Nevertheless, she hopes to “encourage mamas looking to change their routine or to have something nice to look forward to during the week.” @mammaviviann said, “I am 10 months postpartum and I am going to incorporate this routine.”

@cej465 added, “This is such a good way to do this postpartum thing.” @ariellelynn1 wrote, “This is such a good idea. Having something to look forward to and having some sort of structure.” People who aren’t moms or in their postpartum period also appreciated the concept. @tess.kyasho remarked, “I am a college student with no kids, but I will be incorporating this into my life.” @sarahkrammer said, “I don’t have kids, but I adore this weekly model to help battle my own mental health struggles.”
@kerregan_calhoun what ive done to have a positive postpartum experience 🤍✨🕊️ I understand that this is not the case for everyone! I also understand that there are different circumstances like a supporitve partner, good support system, being able to be home with my baby and so many more factors that make this possible. But I’m here to share my positive story and hope it can encourage a mamma out there looking to change their routine or have something to look forward to during the week! ✨🥹❤️ #momtok #momsoftiktok #positivepostpartum #postpartumbody #postpartum ♬ Sweet Love (Acoustic) - Myles Smith
