The pregnancy and postpartum period bring a lot of changes and pets notice them. A mom named Jeanette (@j.44.4) revealed that when she had just given birth and was experiencing the exhaustion of postpartum and looking after her newborn, she was surprised to see her feline support her in the most mesmerizing way. The mom shared a video of a time when she was pumping milk at 3 am for her baby. Her cat showed her love and support in the most unbelievable way and it has the internet in a chokehold.

According to Baby Center, there’s not much evidence about pets’ understanding of pregnancy and postpartum. However, many pet parents have noticed supportive changes from their furry pals during these big life changes. A mom, who goes by WifeandMama21 on the Baby Center Community, noted, “My cat basically ignores me all the time. But with all four of the pregnancies I’ve had, she becomes obsessed with me. She knows I’m pregnant every time before I do! It’s wild!” Even experts suggest that cats and dogs are well aware when a new member has arrived or when a mom is going through changes.

Susan Nilson, a cat and dog training and behavior specialist and the owner and founder of The Cat and Dog House, noted, "Pets, particularly dogs and cats, have highly developed olfactory senses that allow them to detect subtle hormonal changes in humans, including those associated with pregnancy.” She added that both pets are observant and sensitive to changes in moods, routines, posture and so on, and can detect a difference. Jeanette, too, has noticed her pet cat becoming calmer, connected, and thoughtful during her pregnancy and postpartum.

On her social media, she has been sharing how her cat has been keeping her and her baby company in the most wholesome ways. The one that took everyone by surprise was when the mom was pumping milk late at night for her baby. She noted that the “newborn trenches were rough” not just for her, but for her cat too. Her feline helped support her with the most striking gesture. At 3 am, while the mom was getting the milk pumped, the cat was seen sitting in front of her and pressing down the handle with his paws to pump. As the feline was relaxed on Jeanette’s thigh, he kindly obliged to pump the milk with the mom.

The cat’s eyes were so droopy, and the yawn shortly after revealed that he, too, was exhausted from accompanying the postpartum mom in her journey of motherhood. Having reshared the video countless times, it never gets old and banks millions of views each time. “Throwback to when my cat helped me pump at 3 am,” the mom wrote in the caption. @dinggity said, “Pets are so funny. They’ll be tired, but they’ll stay up with you for some reason instead of going to bed. @chenabonie added, “He’s like, ‘Alright girl, let’s get through this together.’” @monayyaaleece remarked, “This is so funny but I’m actually crying because, man, that cat loves you, momma.”
