She followed her regular procedure and had her call with the customer before meeting him for a showing. After her instincts suggested something was off, she kept her guard up. Moments before she could drive onto the property, she noticed something that made her cancel the deal altogether.

Nicole spoke to a prospective buyer, and throughout the call, she noticed he kept his sunglasses on despite being seated indoors. She made a mental note of the situation, but it didn’t raise immediate red flags. After scheduling a showing, she agreed to meet the man there directly. Before she could pull into the entrance, she realized the client’s truck was parked unusually, with barely any space for her to drive in. She would have to struggle to go in and out, and even to park. She slowed down and noticed another beat-up truck parked nearby. When she drove around the plot, she saw a man watching her. As soon as she spotted him, he ducked to avoid being caught. At that point, she was certain that something was off and canceled the showing.
The realtor had already clocked several red flags on the way to the plot. At first, she recounted that the place he wanted to see was nowhere close to the needs he had previously mentioned on the call. Secondly, the plot seemed to have several sheds, which weren’t questionable but left Nicole uneasy. Additionally, that gut feeling that something was not right lingered throughout the drive, and when she saw the trucks and the stranger, she refused to take a chance. From the setting she saw, it looked like the plan was for her to pull into the driveway, and then the truck would block the entry and exit point by simply backing up.
She messaged the buyer that the deal was off and that he needed to find another realtor to assist him with his search. She received no response from the man. While Nicole admitted that it could have been that she was too suspicious, taking the risk was not an option. She warned women to be more vigilant when dealing with clients and to listen to their gut feeling. Instinct has been a lifesaver for many women on different occasions, even in public places, where many believe it's hard to be targeted. In another instance, a mom noticed a strange man following her at Walmart and didn’t hesitate to act when she suspected something was off.
The mom was with her 9-year-old daughter and saw that the stranger had been following them around the store for a while. When he took out his phone and began recording them, she was certain that he had bad intentions. The woman pulled out her own phone and began filming him back, causing him to flee. She later informed management, and cops were involved. They revealed the man had been charged with stalking in the fourth degree and was also a one-time sex offender. Listening to her gut feeling saved her and her child that day.
