How we behave and comfort others around us in the time of need reflect greatly on who we are as a person. Country singer Scotty McCreery became a prime example of it when he put his role as a human being before that of a musician and abruptly stopped his show at the Colorado State Fair after witnessing a man physically abusing a woman in the crowd, per USA Today. The man had reportedly been hitting the woman and as soon as the artist spotted him, he immediately stopped his show and called him out.

A video has gone viral of the singer reportedly rescuing the fan and calling the abuser out during the show. In a clip shared by ABC30 Action News, the singer was performing one of his top songs, “It Matters to Her” when he spotted the man hitting the woman. He was right in the middle of singing and abruptly put a hold on his lyrics and made a loud remark. “Right here, that’s a lady you just hit, sir,” the singer confidently said, calling the man out on the mic. Soon after, he added, “Absolutely not, you just hit the lady.”

McCreery put a pause on his performance and with careful attention, took control of the situation. He called on security and authorities to intervene and asked whether the woman was okay. The singer immediately asked that action be taken against the man. “On God’s green earth. At a Scotty McCreery show? What are you doing?” he exclaimed. The singer also told the man to leave and urged the surrounding crowd to let authorities know what happened so that necessary action could be taken. “This is absolutely unacceptable,” he added. The man was eventually escorted out.
“We can confirm that an incident took place at the Scotty McCreery concert where a man assaulted a woman and the performer stopped the show," Olga Robak, director of communications with The Colorado Department of Agriculture, said. The situation is said to be under control. At a busy space where he was just having his moment, McCreery made sure he made the right observations and saved the woman.
The singer was hailed for doing the right thing and supporting the woman. That day, the crowd left not only with a heartwarming memory of his performance but also with a humane lesson. Several people reposted the videos on X, urging others to be as astute and vigilant. @K8_Bee24_Lex remarked, “And that’s how you do it. It’s that simple.” @TrishArnold15 added, “Now that's an honorable man.” @mxaroma71 remarked, “Good example of never letting the power of the almighty dollar go against your morals of right and wrong. Way to go, Scotty McCreery.”
