Life plays its cards in the best possible ways, and we probably don't realize it until much later. For Tori Hughes–who goes by @torihughes2871 on TikTok–that realization came when she least expected it. "If you ever needed proof that things just work out the way that they are supposed to, let me tell you the craziest thing that I found out today," she said in her video. Hughes explained that she had once been engaged to a "lovely man," but he left. Now, eight months into a relationship with someone she calls her "favorite human," she was reflecting on how much her life had changed.

She began, "So I was on the phone with him, and he was asking what I was doing on very particular days that were important days for him in the past couple of years before we met each other." Hughes explained that she kept a detailed iCal on her phone to track her activities and knew what she had been doing on those dates. "It was just something to talk about. None of the dates were important to me," she added. Then, her boyfriend asked about November 13, 2022. She said, "I started laughing. I didn’t even have to look." Instead of answering, she asked him, "What were you doing?" His response left her in shock. "That’s the day I moved here. That’s the day I moved to town."

She continued, "The love of my life moved to my city on what should have been my wedding day." The realization hit her so hard that she felt it physically. "I have goosebumps. I have literal goosebumps. It always just works itself out," she said while recalling the moment. Her video went viral on the platform, garnering over 2 million views and thousands of comments. People were captivated by the unexpected timing. @lizzyg.195.0236 wrote, "'What's meant to be, will be'—The universe." @ahlamher added, "I wish people shared more stories of this sort. It's comforting."

@amandxju42j commented, "Reminds me of the saying, 'You don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes that’s working in your favor.'" Many shared their own stories of fate stepping in at the right time. @samanthaseccurojohnson shared, "My ex-husband cheated on me right before my brother's wedding. I met the love of my life at that wedding. We live together and are so, so happy. I love those stories." @ferny_yyx said, "My mum canceled her wedding. A few days later, she met my dad. I was born on the day she was supposed to get married."

Stories like these show how some moments feel like they were meant to be. In another story of an unexpected miracle, a woman named Nika Diwa (@nikadiwa on TikTok) shared a moment that brought her father to tears. Years ago, he had taken on extra work, including cleaning pools and took out a government loan so his daughter could attend college. He carried that debt for years, knowing it was a long-term burden. But on Christmas, her father found an envelope hidden in the Christmas tree. She shared a video of her father reading the letter, saying, "My dad sent me to a college he couldn’t afford and just found out the government forgave the entire loan." She also wrote, "This is the best Christmas gift ever."
