She got dumped by the man with ‘big job’ after driving him home from airport in a snowstorm — his misogynistic reason stunned her
Dating often reveals a lot about a person's character and one bad experience is enough to push you to the edge. It proved to be true when the author of "God Land," "Belabored," and "This American Ex-Wife," Lyz Lenz, shared how her past relationship ended, and a year later, it helped her in her current situation. Lenz (@lyzlenz) posted a video on Instagram on Monday, February 2, 2026, recounting how she once made arrangements to get back to their town after she and the man she was seeing were stuck at an airport due to a snowstorm. Their journey from the airport to their home eventually ended with the man breaking up with her, offering a misogynistic reason. The video, since being posted, has garnered over 396,000 views.
She recalled a trip she once took with a man she was dating a few years ago. Their return home was derailed when a massive snowstorm grounded flights and left travelers stranded at the airport. Lenz said, “A couple of years ago, I was dating a man, and we had taken a trip together, and we got stuck at the airport. There was a huge snowstorm. We couldn't get on our flight home.” She explained that the man had “a big, busy job,” and she was determined to get them home safely. Taking charge, she made a car rental reservation and drove the man through dangerous conditions in the middle of the night at 3 a.m.
But what happened next caught her completely off guard. Lenz revealed, “When we got back to our town, he broke up with me because he said, 'You don't need a man. So why should I date you?'” The timing of the incident made it even harsher, because it was midnight, with temperatures hovering around minus 20 degrees. Recently, the woman found herself in a snowstorm, but this time it was with two of her closest friends. Once again, she stepped up. “Let me drive. I can do this,” she told her friends. This time, the response was entirely different.
She described safely driving her friends home during a snowstorm, with one friend navigating and another making sure they had Diet Cokes, highlighting the support and teamwork they shared. The trio made it home safely, and at the end, she said, “Then do you know what they said at the end? Thank you.” Her story resonated with many online, with viewers sharing their own experiences and opinions in the comment section. “Best explanation for the ‘male loneliness epidemic’ yet!” joked @dak_from_la. @agingbodyliberation remarked, “Love this! I would love to see a show of hands from all the women who’ve felt the need to be less in order to stay.” “He saved you from living a miserable life with him,” wrote @hosanaanjos.
