Having a good relationship with neighbors might make a huge difference to a person's experience of living in a place. A woman who moved into a new house seemed to have won the jackpot when it comes to neighbors, as her 98-year-old neighbor walked up to their house to welcome the family. He also carried a special gift with him that left the woman in tears. The person, Kelly Grant, who goes by @kellyann2339 on TikTok, shared the entire incident with the platform.

The woman was crying with her hand on her face as the text overlay read, "We just moved into a house and my 98-year-old neighbor just dropped off a cake to welcome us to the neighborhood." The man had lived in the area for 52 years and hoped that the family loved being there as much as he did. Grant showed a chocolate funnel cake that the neighbor had left for them. "I love it here," she shared in the caption. The woman shared that she was a little nervous about moving to a new town and her neighbor helped ease some of those worries, per Newsweek. "I had just gotten home and he came and rang my doorbell a few minutes after. He must've seen me pull in," Grant commented.

"It was such a sweet gesture. He introduced himself and welcomed me to the neighborhood. He's been in his house for 52 years and his stepdaughter now lives with him," Grant pointed out. People shared their thoughts on the interaction in the comments section of the video. @l1nds_marie wrote, "Don’t forget him! Even after the dust settles from moving in, we all get caught up in life. His last years on earth mean the most, make him feel special!" @whatspoppinmaryo_ commented, "Growing up, my sister and I were the only kids on our block. Surrounded by elderly neighbors. We were so spoiled."

@teacher_mom101 remarked, "That’s what old school did to welcome you to the neighborhood. Enjoy! Those neighbors are few and far between now." @sissysaucetin shared, "Our elderly neighbors told me they remember being the young ones moving in and having their own old neighbors and now it’s their turn to welcome the young neighbors." @heatherlersch expressed, "My neighbor next door became my second mama when I lost mine. I sat with her in the ER when she lost her husband. We are family now. We love and adore her." @rosebudink3 pointed out, "Y’all better become best friends and clean his driveway in the winter and bring soup when he’s sick and trick or treat at his house and give him a Christmas present. Lord help you if you don’t!"

In another video, Grant shared that she was making a lemon pie for her neighbor as a thank you for the cake he gave them. "I am excited to see him again and get to know him more," she expressed, as she made the pie. She also encouraged people to do something sweet for their neighbors if they liked what happened with her. "Go meet your neighbor. Go knock on their door and bake them some cookies, everyone likes cookies." She hoped that her neighbor liked the lemon pie and he actually liked it. So did his stepdaughter who was sleeping when she went to their house. The man remarked that he would have liked to introduce Grant to his stepdaughter. He emphasized that she didn't have to bring the pie, but he was "delighted" that she did.
