She spotted something strange on women's washroom door at a gas station and called cops—people are now lauding her

When something feels strange or if your gut feeling tells you something is not right, you should heed the caveat. Being alert and cautious, especially when outdoors in unknown spaces, is crucial. What’s even more important is to act quickly and smartly if something feels off. Similarly, a woman named Shelby, who goes by @momcallsmeshelby on TikTok, noticed something when she was at a gas station. She immediately felt it wasn’t right and responded instantly with a cautious and brave move. People applauded Shelby for practicing astute vigilance. She went to a gas station at Exxon 3200, Boonville Road, Bryan, Texas, to use the restroom and something felt off.

“The energy was really weird and the people were acting differently at the gas station,” she recalled. When she approached the door, she heard a sort of click, as if the door was automatically closing. “I looked up and just in time, before the door could close, I stopped it and saw a big, rectangular contraption at the top of the door that locks you in,” she revealed. She added that she heard some beeping noise coming from the lock as if it were being controlled. Shelby pondered whether she should go ahead and use the restroom. “I ran outside, my coworker was getting gas and I showed him the thing,” she said.

She added that when she was showing her friend the lock, two men who worked at the store were creepily staring at her. She then asked her coworker to assist with keeping guard till she used the restroom. “I’m really feeling weird,” she remarked. Also, she noted that the contraption was only in the women’s restrooms and not in the men’s. “The workers walked towards us and began yelling when we were recording,” Shelby added. Their suspicious and impulsive reactions further provoked Shelby to take action. In a follow-up video, she shared glimpses of the other restrooms and how they did not have the lock.
@momcallsmeshelby Maybe I’m crazy but if I am, I would love to know what this contraption is for 🙂

It was a strange occurrence, and the police were informed. In another video, Shelby explained that the officers were told that the lock was there because “a group of Hispanic men came for lunch and would destroy the women’s bathroom.” However, their justification didn’t make sense since the door could be unlocked from the outside for the men to go in and destroy the place, but not from the inside. Shelby insisted that the officers do a more detailed investigation or arrive at some response to the scenario. In another video, her efforts finally paid off.

“The officer called me back shortly and said that somebody called a fire marshal and they were ordered they remove that lock,” Shelby said. A woman (@nochillheather on TikTok) shared a compilation of the entire experience. The marshal was also seen strictly warning the managers. “You can call your boss, but no matter how he feels about it, it’s coming down today in front of me, either with my tools or yours,” the marshal was quoted as saying in the clip. @victoriaboss37 said, “This is a perfect example of ‘see something, say something.’ You helped save the lives of women.” @this.place.is.ia.j added, “This is absolutely not normal. Always trust your gut instincts.” @project_kayyy remarked, “Imagine you uncover something huge just by one feeling and asking one question.” @has15425jhe noted, “There is definitely foul play here and the workers know it.”

@nochillheather thank you @𝕊𝕙𝕖𝕝𝕓𝕪 🦋 for bringing this to light. Regardless of what it is, it should never have been on this door. Mighty thankful the police were ON IT & taking it serious 🙏🏻🫡 Anywho stay safe out there everyone but mostly the girlies. 🙂↔️💓✨ #sextraffickingawareness #womensafetytips #womensafety #gasstationstorytime #exxon #fypシ ♬ original sound - Heather 🧚🏼♂️
