Walmart worker reveals the one alarming thing women shoppers must check before using store restrooms

Women using restrooms at retail stores need to be extra careful, according to a Walmart employee who revealed why in a viral clip.

Using public restrooms also means inviting health risks, especially if the restroom is dirty. At retail stores and malls, restrooms are mostly kept tidy by cleaners but there is something in there that people usually don't pay attention to. While most of us worry about dirty wet floors and filthy toilet seats, we hardly care about the rolls of toilet paper before using them. A Walmart employee named Devan, who goes by @601.devan on TikTok, issued a public service announcement for people, especially women who use restrooms at the store.

In his video, Devan warned women against using a restroom at some retail stores for how it can cause a serious health hazard to them. “This pertains to men and women but mainly women, and you’re gonna see why,” Devan declared, before revealing that the restrooms’ toilet paper rolls had some strange marks and spots on them. He stressed how important it was for customers to check the toilet paper in there.

Devan showed the picture of a toilet paper roll in the inset of his video and pointed at it. The roll had some red blotches and holes poked through it. It also appeared someone had repeatedly dragged something sharp across the sides of the toilet paper. He wanted to warn women against these situations where some IV drug user could have possibly wiped their needles on the toilet paper roll. “This is from needle-using junkies going into the bathroom, taking that cover that’s over it the toilet roll dispenser off, sticking their needles in there and cleaning their needles,” Devan claimed.

Devan continued and said that there are times when people won't spot blood on the toilet paper rolls but they should still check for pin-like holes in the rolls. "For all my ladies out there, if you have no choice but to use toilet paper, I suggest checking your toilet paper before you sit down to use the bathroom or just bring wipes of your own," the employee advised. Devan's video alarmed many of his viewers and a lot of them left comments about similar experiences or what they would do if they encountered those contaminated toilet rolls.

@bambiandcoco13 announced, "I will go without wiping if it takes. Never even knew this." @krissyslone revealed, "Most of these machines are locked because I’ve worked at plenty of stores and you have a key to unlock the toilet paper to even get the toilet paper out and to change the rolls. This won’t happen if it was locked." @amlad01 mentioned, "Also ask for individually packaged condiments when you’re eating in a restaurant because if they leave condiments on the table, people have tampered with them before. Most places do."
