Heartbroken woman thought her birth dad didn't care about her— 28 years later, she uncovered a truth that changed everything

A woman who had been adopted at birth had no idea about how her birth father felt about her for 28 years. The woman asked her mom and dad about it, but they didn't know much, as the birth father's name was not on anything and they conveyed that the man hadn't shown up for her birth. But one day the woman, Cami, decided that she would find out about him and uncovered something touching after 2 years of search, per her Instagram, where she goes by @mae.day.crochet.

Cami shared that her mom and dad had adopted her as a young child and she grew up in a loving family. She started asking about her birth father and the parents could only provide the information they had. "His name wasn't on anything, he didn't show up, along with other painful details." After that, something changed in the woman when she became a mom herself. "I remember looking at my husband with tears as I held my baby and asked him, 'Do you think he ever even thought about me?'" So, the woman decided to start searching for him and did so for the next 2 years. She was prepared for rejection, but she really needed closure.

Cami kept looking for her biological dad for the next 2 years with little to no luck, until a man called Tommy showed up in her life. "Tommy is very good at this type of work and he offered to help me." After 2 days of constant searching and hours of exchanged messages, Tommy finally texted her a picture and she immediately knew that it was her dad. "After all this time, I just had to hope that a Facebook message request would be read." The woman also reconnected with her birth mother around that time. She "learned that the story they were given wasn't the truth." Something that her biological dad confirmed when they finally met. Her biological dad responded to her message and they heard each other's voice for the first time the next day.

The man explained that he was at the same place as the woman's birth mom during the military, but lived across the country during her pregnancy. "He shared that he drove over 50 hours to see me when I was born." She added, "He was there and he even held me, but her family had already set things in motion." The man had no clue about what was going to happen next, as they had "never" discussed adoption. "He said he'd take me, but they had already taken action." The dad had only held his daughter once and he had to leave, not knowing where she was going and with no way to find her. "My whole life, I thought he didn't want me." 6 days after the man saw her text, Cami boarded a flight to go see him. "He and his wife were flying me out so I could see him." The dad and daughter were reunited after 28 years and the pain the woman felt all those years was "gone instantly."
