Woman who was bullied in school found notes her 10-yr-old sister left for another bullied peer: 'As someone who was hurt by...'

Getting bullied as a child can significantly impact an individual's self-esteem. At such a time, support from people around them means a lot. A woman, (u/frogbabe666 on Reddit) who was bullied as a child, found out the notes her 10-year-old sister had written for someone who was being harassed in school. She was proud of her little sister and touched by her words. She shared a photo of the notes on Reddit and people on the internet loved the 10-year-old's wholesome gesture.

"My 10-year-old sister put these on the locker of a peer who was being bullied and harassed. She also informed the teacher what was going on when nobody else was helping him," the person shared. "As someone who was hurt by others growing up, I'm so proud of her." The girl had left sticky notes in several colors on a fellow student's locker. All of them had words of encouragement written to assure the student that he was being seen and that he mattered. "Hey! You are great," one note read. "This is a friendly reminder...you are amazing," a green sticky note read. The third note pointed out, "You matter — from someone who cares." The woman also shared a little bit about her sister's personality in one of the comments.
"She is the sweetest kid I've ever met. Ever since she was in preschool, she's wanted to donate every penny of birthday money to children in need. Such a pure soul," the comment revealed. The National Center for Education Statistics and the Bureau of Justice Statistics, in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, revealed that 1 in 5 children between the ages of 12 and 18 gets bullied at school, reported McLean Mental Health. Many students who have gone through this traumatic experience shared that the bullying also impacted how their peers behaved with them. Only less than half of the victims of the bullying reported what was happening to them to the authorities at school. Loss of self-confidence and low self-esteem are some of the things faced by people who bear the brunt.
Reporting bullying to the authorities and offering support to a person who is going through this trauma are crucial steps that can help a person, per the outlet. Encouraging kids to give genuine compliments to each other can also help. Many people appreciated the girl's gesture in the comments section of the thread and wished there were more people like her. u/KiNGOfPak786 wrote, "That’s brilliant, but instead of 3 notes from one person. Perhaps you can make a note to give to her friend. That way, technically, it wasn’t just your sister. If you get what I mean. Not bringing negativity, just some advice."

u/jemweigel wondered, "Now, I know this is 4 years old, but did the bullied person know it was from her? Like, still it's sweet and was probably helpful, but the bullied person might have thought it's also a part of the bullying." Another user remarked, "Why don’t more people like her exist? She’s such a lovely girl!" u/gnataral shared, "Wow, that is amazing! Especially the yellow one!" the person said, referring to the note that read, "You matter — from someone who cares."
