She was on a date with a man she was crazy about when he invited another woman he was seeing — his reason made both their hearts sink
There is no doubt that early dating comes with its fair share of uncertainty. After all, how well can you know a person within just a few weeks? However, occasionally an event unfolds that leaves everyone involved shocked. That is exactly what happened to a TikTok user who goes by @stassiesbabyxo. On Monday, March 16, 2026, a woman named Megan Marie shared in a now-deleted video that she agreed to go on what seemed like a normal date, until it became clear someone else had been invited too. If the situation wasn't baffling enough, the man's reply left both women shocked.
Marie began by warning viewers that "the most diabolical thing" had happened to her on March 13, 2026. After talking to a man named Eli for three weeks, she finally decided to meet him at a bar. Then the night took a shocking turn when she realized another woman he was seeing had also been invited to the same bar. When confronted by both women, his reply shocked them. The man seemed completely nonchalant about the situation. "You are not the girlfriend," he said to Marie. When she told Eli he did wrong, he appeared confused by her reaction. He even went so far as to introduce the two to each other. "I thought you two would like each other," he said.
Now, it isn't odd to date multiple people at a time in today's day and age. Especially when no official relationship has been established. But it should be done while respecting both partners. People are already losing hope in love because of all the bizarre first date stories circulating every day, and this TikTok user had had enough.
Marie explained that his lack of understanding about why the situation is disrespectful comes from a lack of empathy. “I genuinely know that you do not understand why this is wrong, and that’s a serious problem," she told Eli. Her decision to leave the bar after this was fairly easy to make. After all, she wasn't going to be with someone who doesn't find anything wrong with overlapping connections when exclusivity was not discussed. But when she tried to leave, the man again couldn't understand the cue and asked whether he should call for an Uber.
Marie clarified that she was leaving alone. Eli was still confused and replied, "I bought you a drink." To which a very shocked Marie retaliated by saying, "I don't care if you bought me a Birkin," and then she left. The best part of the story came when the two women decided they would bond rather than compete. The two even started comparing dates and notes, only to find out he was seeing them both at the same time. “He told me he was watching the game alone, and she was like, ‘No, I was with him,’” recalled Marie. This proves how far certain entitled people with low emotional quotient can go.
The comment section was evidently upset with both the cluelessness and audacity of the man. @l_a_u_r_a274 mentioned, "It’s the fact he felt the need to lie about his whereabouts. He knew he was wrong." @tyramadisonmusic remarked, "His audacity is insane! Dating in Nashville isn’t for the weak." Amidst all this, @elle.dani07 asked the correct question, "Wow! Did the other girl leave, too?" But nothing like that was mentioned. Although it seems like a cautionary tale, it is still heartbreaking for Marie to be excited about this man, only to be disappointed later.
