Countless people fall victim to scammers while shopping online. Facebook Marketplace has not only opened doors to small sellers but also to scammers. There are cases when a person does not receive the product after making an advance payment for it. A woman who goes by u/Jumpy-Law-5999 on Reddit was in a similar situation in 2024. However, she ended up having a surprising interaction with her scammer, leaving the online audience in awe.

The woman posted two screenshots of text messages that were exchanged between her and the scammer she came in contact with. She revealed how the incident took place when she was 6 months pregnant. "I paid this person $77 on Facebook Marketplace for an Owlet Dream Sock. He said he would send me the tracking number the next day. I asked him 3 days later for the tracking number," the woman wrote in her post. The Owlet Dream Sock is a product manufactured by Owlet Care that helps to monitor a baby by keeping track of the heart rate, oxygen level, room temperature and other factors.

But the woman grew concerned when the seller on the Facebook marketplace started to ignore her texts. Fearing that she had been scammed, the woman texted the seller one more time, asking for a refund. "I stopped trying after that, and I just figured he needed the money more than me at the time. And he had my address, so I figured I would just cut my losses. Then tonight I got this message," the woman elaborated before posting the screenshots of the text message exchange. "I am sorry I did that to you," the seller who had initially ghosted the woman replied. "I was in a bad place. Hope I can be forgiven."

The pregnant woman was pleasantly surprised to witness the scammer have a change of heart. "Thank you. I hope things are better for you and continue to get better," the woman responded with kindness. "They are. Thank god. I never forgot I took your money. I am finally in a place to make things right," the seller revealed. The story of the woman and the seller's interaction was well-received by people on the internet. They left supportive comments for the woman who looked at the whole scenario with a positive mindset.

You put that good energy out there and it boomeranged right back to you! I’m so happy for you. Keep that peace in your heart because it’s more precious than gold." u/Ryzehx mentioned, "Absolutely magnificent interaction. Good on you. My therapist always told me to be the difference I want to see in the world. This just makes me want to do that even more. Hell yeah. Thanks for being a great human being!" u/Wonderful_Rule_2515 commented, "Thanks for not being rude in return. It would’ve been so justified if you were, but I think lessons stick harder when people take things like this with grace. You seem like a neat person."

u/EagleLize noted, "You know, he's going to remember you treating him with respect. I hope it helps him grow. Very cool of you." u/ihavestinkytoesies quipped, "Scamming is such a horrible thing to do to anyone but the fact that he recognized what he did was wrong and even apologized is sweet. Your response was very nice." One person in the comment section wanted to know if the woman had any further interactions with the seller or not. "Nothing! My last message was on August 2, 2024, after I realized it was a scam, and I asked him for a refund. When he ignored me again after that, I just moved on from it and learned not to Cash App strangers so easily, but I literally said nothing since my last message in August," the woman updated
