Teachers are called to make a difference in a student’s life. Anything they say or do can have a lasting impact on most students, no matter their age or background. Moreover, many even carry these as profound memories. A student and single mom, Morgan King (@morgantking), shared a heartwarming memory she made with her professor. The woman revealed that she had missed a class as she was unable to find someone to look after her baby. She sent her professor an email to explain the same and was overwhelmed with delight to hear what the professor had to say in return. The woman revealed in a comment that she has a 3-month-old and that being a single mom is quite the challenge.

“Told my professor I missed class yesterday because I couldn't find childcare and this was her response. I'm literally crying. So blessed and thankful,” she wrote in her post. The professor’s compassionate email read, “We wondered where you were this morning. I am so sorry to hear that childcare issues are what caused you to miss class today.” The professor went on to give a bit on what was done in class and gave her some lenience to get her work done. She even shared necessary resources and was glad to go over what she missed in class. Being understanding and empathetic with her response, the woman also offered to help the single mom.

“In the future, if you are having trouble finding someone to watch Korbyn (the baby), please feel free to just bring her with you to class,” the professor wrote. She even insisted that she would be “delighted” to hold her baby so the mom could focus on her work and take notes. Being as assuring and supportive as possible, the professor hoped the mom would never have to choose between caring for her baby and attending classes. “I work for the Department of Child and Family Studies—so how terrible would it be if I was unwilling to have a child visit our class? I'm very serious with this offer, just bring Korbyn with you!” the email read. The professor concluded the email saying, “No worries. And your absence from class today is considered ‘excused.’”

She also mentioned that she would be glad to support the mom in any other way possible. King revealed in another comment that the class was a “child and family studies” one and would not be so much a hassle to have her baby with her. The mom was relieved to know that she wouldn’t have to struggle with the worry of not finding childcare in time again. In a follow-up thread, she shared how the teacher was serious about her offer. “I walked into class a couple of minutes late this morning and my professor said, ‘Awe dang, I thought you were gonna bring Korbyn today.’” People are in awe of this supportive and cool professor and are applauding her for her thoughtfulness. @KristieKrezanos said, “Makes me want to take a class from that professor! I know I would learn more than just the subject matter.” @SFGiantsMeag added, “It helps to see the good people like your professor.”
