Stalker followed an influencer for two blocks before approaching her with a filming idea — what he suggested confirmed her worst fear

On day two of her solo date series, she went from embracing independence to feeling scared and ready to stop.

For many women, being alone in public can involve a constant balancing act between enjoying independence and staying alert to potential danger. TikTok creator Sadé, who goes by @sadeidera, shared one such experience on May 12, 2026. While enjoying a day by herself, she noticed something unusual. A man appeared to be following her through the city, repeatedly showing up wherever she stopped. At first, she tried to brush it off, hoping it was a coincidence. But when the stranger eventually approached her and made a suggestion she found deeply unsettling, the situation took a turn that left her questioning whether she wanted to continue her day at all.

The creator first became suspicious after noticing the man had followed her for several blocks. When she stopped to film content in good lighting, he stopped too and appeared to watch her from a distance. The situation became even more uncomfortable when he approached her. Rather than simply walking away, he encouraged her to follow him to what appeared to be a secluded, dark alleyway, insisting it would make a better location for photos and videos, even going as far as commenting on the "angle" and how it would be better.

The encounter did not end there. According to Sadé, she eventually entered a nearby store to put distance between herself and the stranger. What happened next only reinforced her concerns. She later claimed the man remained outside for roughly 30 minutes before finally leaving the area. The experience was especially upsetting because the video had begun on a positive note. Sadé was only on the second day of a series dedicated to taking herself on solo dates and encouraging independence. Instead, she found herself admitting that she was now scared and no longer in the mood to continue.

Her story highlights a reality many women know all too well: a single uncomfortable encounter can transform an ordinary afternoon into a situation where personal safety suddenly becomes the primary concern over solo adventures. While viewers debated how she should have handled the situation, many agreed that the responsibility ultimately lies with the person making someone feel unsafe.

Sadé's experience also serves as a reminder that what may seem like a harmless interaction to one person can feel entirely different to the person being followed, especially when they are alone. Commenters told her to be safe and to end the conversation sooner. @caromejra mentioned, "Girl, that conversation was too long. Please be careful." @justme4807 wrote, "Glad you were aware of your surroundings and noticed him. Stay safe!" @user6503881072617 remarked, "Stop being cordial. Don’t engage at all. You can record, don’t even say 'Have a nice day.'"

Sadé's experience reflects a broader issue documented in research on public harassment. According to a national survey conducted by Stop Street Harassment, 65% of women and 25% of men reported experiencing some form of street harassment. Among female respondents, 23% said they had been subjected to unwanted sexual touching, 20% had been followed, and 9% reported being forced into a sexual act.

Another Stop Street Harassment survey found that 75% of women had been followed by a stranger in public at least once, with more than 27% experiencing it six or more times. The same survey reported that 62% of women had experienced a man deliberately blocking their path, while 23% said it had happened on at least six occasions. The findings help explain why encounters like Sadé's can feel threatening rather than merely uncomfortable.
