Many women can probably remember the first time a stranger made an unnecessary comment about their body while they were simply existing in public. The uncomfortable part is how often these moments are brushed off as jokes, harmless humor, or people being “too sensitive,” even when they leave a lasting impact. However, as reported by News.com on May 6, 2026, an Australian mom named Sue, who goes by @jakois_liftrunrepeat on Instagram, didn't let that slide as "normal" after a grown man made a creepy comment to her teenage daughter while she was getting lunch from a bakery. She gave it back to him word for word, finally making the man visibly uncomfortable.

After being cornered by Sue outside the bakery, the man finally admitted that he had told the teenage girl the food she was buying would “go straight to your hips,” while still insisting the remark was not actually about her body. He then attempted to dismiss the confrontation by claiming Sue was overreacting and taking the situation too seriously. That response only seemed to frustrate the mother further. Sue firmly replied that the comment was not a “sense of humor” before asking whether he had daughters of his own. When the man admitted he did not, she delivered the line many viewers later praised online: “Well, I’m glad, because it’s actually a revolting comment to make to a young girl.”

The man then tried to dismiss the confrontation by accusing Sue of being “overprotective” and “overreacting,” but the mother did not back down and called him "a pig of a man." She bluntly said he was wrong for commenting on what a young girl was eating, while the situation became visibly more uncomfortable for him once he realized he was being recorded. Later, Sue explained that her decision to publicly confront the man came from years of watching women and girls being expected to quietly tolerate inappropriate remarks from strangers

She pointed out that women are often told not to be emotional, to remain polite, and to avoid making situations uncomfortable, only to later be questioned about why they stayed silent in the first place. According to the mother, this constant pressure to accept disrespectful behavior without reacting is exactly what allows such comments to continue unchecked in public spaces. That was why she decided to speak up immediately rather than dismissing the incident as a harmless joke. As she firmly stated afterward, “The time for just accepting this behavior is over; our daughters deserve better.”

The comment section heavily applauded the woman and fully supported her. @natnattynatnat said, "If it’s not bad enough that he’s making inappropriate comments, he’s now trying to gaslight you instead of being accountable. You did so well." Meanwhile, @mcctallica remarked, "As a male and a father to a daughter, this guy makes my blood boil, well done for speaking up."

@soulsounds20 also shared a point many people resonated with: "This is why we need men to call out other men in public and loudly when they make comments like this." What made Sue stand out to viewers was not just that she confronted the man, but that she refused to let him minimize the situation into a harmless joke afterward. In many ways, the reaction online showed how exhausted people have become with behavior that has been normalized for far too long.
