Pregnant news anchor had a 'chill' response to viewers making inappropriate comments about her weight
People in the public eye often face a lot of scrutiny about their bodies and lives. More often than not, the comments that follow might not be a pleasant thing to hear. However, a news anchor who was body-shamed for gaining weight during her pregnancy had the best response ever for people who did it. The woman pointed out how the comments were getting annoying and the reason why people need to chill a little with the comments. The woman, Erica Simon, who goes by @EricaOnABC13 on X, took to the platform to share the message with people.
"Some of the viewer comments about my pregnancy are starting to get annoying," Simons began. "Yes, I’m aware I’m petite so the sudden packing on of pounds is a startling sight," the anchor went on. She pointed out that she was "not having twins" and was not due anytime soon. "I’ll update you as I go, but chill," the post concluded. The woman had penned the note before she had her first daughter, Ella in 2019 as per New York Post. People took to the comments section of the post to support the mom.

@JenAries4 wrote, "You’re growing a human. That takes strength and grace. Move on past the negative. You rock Mama Bear!" @gablegirl1 commented, "Wow I really don’t get people. Like my Mom used to always say, 'If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.' Literally, millions of people should take that advice. You are beautiful. Congrats on your soon-to-be, little one. Happy New Year." @moonbeam2007 remarked, "There’s something about when you’re pregnant that makes people think it’s ok to make comments and ask intrusive and/or inappropriate questions. And physically touch you in places they would never touch a non-pregnant person."

When she was pregnant for a second time, she wrote a note in a similar vein on Facebook, asking people to not bombard her with pregnancy opinions as she entered her third trimester. "As I enter into my third trimester, I have a friendly PSA," Simons emphasized. "No, I’m not about to pop, deliver tomorrow or am having twins. I’m petite with a small torso, so no matter the size of the baby, I’m going to present startlingly big in the tummy." She added, "It’s not polite to constantly comment on women’s pregnant bodies." The news anchor recalled that some people had made her feel very self-conscious and bad when she was pregnant with her daughter, Ella.
"At a time when I should be celebrating, at peace, and preparing for God’s gift." Simons went on, "I will keep you updated on major developments like I always do, so no need to bombard me with pregnancy opinions, or how you think I look." The post ended with a "Cheers to a beautiful, healthy delivery in February!" In a comment, Simons admitted, "To be clear friends: I don’t think anyone is intentionally trying to be mean. I just don’t think some are thinking about how their comments or questions would make me feel at a vulnerable, special time. Thanks for all the love." In an Instagram post, where Simons goes by @ericaontv, she expressed, "Mamas-to-be: whether your body’s barely changed or you’re the heaviest you’ve ever been (like me!), know you are that chick." She continued, "Children are a gift from God, and being able to carry is the honor of a lifetime. All the aesthetic stuff doesn’t even matter. It’s just a season."
