A woman’s safety is still shaky across the world. On our part, the least we can do as human beings is be cautious and look out for their safety, especially in public spaces. A man named Caolán Mc Aree (@Caolanmcaree) revealed that he was caught off guard on seeing a woman in potential danger on the streets of Madrid. The man shared in a post on X that as soon as he felt the woman was in trouble, before things could get worse, he acted with an impromptu genius plan. He made one remark and it managed to save the woman’s life. This simple tactic is one of the most humane ways to help people out, even if they’re strangers.

The man mentioned that a woman was being “followed and pestered by a creep,” on the street. He happened to be there at the time and immediately thought of a foolproof statement to ward off the potential danger. He simply yelled, “Hey, haven’t seen you in ages,” to the woman. Giving the suspicious people the idea that he knew the woman and they didn’t stand a chance, in one phrase he managed to get rid of the creep. The man added that his plan worked but the creep called his fake play. “He realized that I didn't know her and called me a 'big man' for helping her and got a bit aggro. Anyway, I walked her to her door and she's home safe but ugh!” the post concluded.

In a series of threads, the man explained that he was in Spain at the time and the incident happened on a street in Madrid. The man added that the woman was initially scared and thought he was a creep too but soon understood the play and calmed down. He added that he knew the man was suspicious as he kept “hassling” the woman for over a minute refused to leave and kept following her. In another thread, he added, “When I got back to my room my heart was racing as he was still on that street and I thought to myself, ‘Maybe I shouldn't have got involved, I put myself in danger.’ Not such a heroic thought eh! But f**k that, I'm glad I did,” he exclaimed. The man’s encounter and response is a prime example of why we need to be vigilant and sharp in thinking.

Several people thanked the man for going out of his way to help the woman. @LeedSteakGeek wrote, “Well done to you and her for knowing what was going on.” @stevemarkperry added, “Good on you. That certainly takes courage, for many reasons. Glad she’s okay. Let’s take this as a lesson on how to be a strong person, watching out for, and helping other people and having situational awareness.” @Stephen373411354 remarked, “Thank you for doing the right thing.  And for relaying the story. No bravado, just what a man should do, protect others.” @mcshev added, “As a woman and a mother to two daughters, thank you.”
