Struggling grandpa gave away surprise gift to those in need—Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO rewarded him generously

It takes something special in a person to go out of their way to give even when they are struggling themselves. A grandpa named Peter was surprised by social media creator Zachery Dereniowski (@mdmotivator) with a generous surprise, E! Online reported. The man has been going above and beyond in kindness, surprising strangers in need with unexpected gifts and generosity. When he chose Peter as the recipient of something similar, the grandpa decided to give it away to someone else. He had a selflessly excellent reason for his gesture. Moved by his kind heart and spirit, artist Jelly Roll and his wife, Bunnie XO, decided to reward him with something special. 

In the video shared by Dereniowski on Instagram, he revealed Peter’s generous heart. He pretended to have his shoes stolen and walked barefoot around a store when he met Peter. It was just before Father’s Day and he was headed to get materials to fix his camper. The grandpa noticed Dereniowski barefoot. When he learned of the reason, he immediately handed him a few dollars. “Go get yourself some shoes,” he told Dereniowski. After getting the young man a pair, Peter struck up a conversation and shared his story. He explained how he had one daughter who was going through addiction and was going into rehab. 

He mentioned that times were hard for him. Though it was challenging, his little grandson had been his constant support. “I got my grandson, he’s my best friend,” he said. Moved by his kindness, Dereniowski surprised him with $500 worth of Canadian Tire Gift cards. Peter kindly accepted the gift but immediately walked over to the other side of the store, spotted another grandpa and approached him. “Happy Father’s Day,” he said to the stranger, while handing him $400 worth of the gift card. "I wanted to pay it forward," he said. Dereniowski was touched and handed him $10,000, which moved the elderly man to tears. 

“I could use that a lot,” he said, wiping tears from his eyes. Peter's choosing to “pay it forward” while battling so much moved many, including Bunnie XO and Jelly Roll. The woman came across Peter from the video and wanted to do something for him. “What he does for people is so beautiful. Watching Peter’s story and how he gave back to somebody when he was probably at one of the lowest points in his life, without hesitation, just made me want to do the same,” the artist remarked. She wanted to “give back” to Peter and so took help from Dereniowski to surprise him yet again. 

Bunnie recorded a message for Peter and Dereniowski met the grandpa again with a surprise, which he shared in a follow-up video. “It moved me so much the way you paid it forward when you didn’t have to,” she said. She mentioned that his act inspired her to get him a little something. The man was asked to put on a blindfold as he and his grandson were guided to their gift. “We got you a brand new home,” Dereniowski said, pointing towards a new camper. In disbelief, Peter looked up at it and broke into tears. After sharing a hug, he sat down as he tried to ponder and take in all that had just happened. 

“You have no clue how much this helps me,” Peter said, with tears rolling down his face. He picked up his grandson and hugged him, knowing there was so much hope added to give him the life he wanted to. “I hope they both enjoy their new camper so much and maybe next time we're on tour, we can stop by and visit them,” Bunnie noted. She also commented on the video, “Thank you, Zach, for all you do! And thank you for letting me play a small role in it.”
