A little effort from our end can make up a lot for a person in need. A student named Porter Harris from Thunder Ridge High School shared a post of how he and his peers put together a little present to help their financially struggling classmate. In the video reshared by @sportscenter on Instagram, the group of students is seen surprising the boy in need with something wholesome. The post revealed that the boy had lost his mother and his family was struggling to pay bills and other expenses. Because of money issues, he’d wear the same clothes to school every day.

When his peers noticed the same, they decided to step in and make a difference. On his birthday, the students all chipped in a little cash to get some required materials for the boy. The video captured the students welcoming the boy to a backpack loaded with items. Confused, the boy wondered what was in it. He excitedly got down to the ground and began to open the bag with his classmates surrounding him. As he opened the same, he began removing different items, one after another. Starting with a water sipper, the boy went on to take out hoodies and other clothing items gifted by his beloved peers.

The backpack was filled to the brim with things he needed, including college merchandise and other quality items. The students even managed to get him new shoes and other materials for him to continue playing football. The boy’s gratitude was visible in his teary eyes and appreciative smile. He was excited and couldn’t wait to look in awe at the gifts he had received. He even tried his new shoes and gloves on with the help of a few mates and eagerly walked around while the group wholeheartedly cheered. Their little individual kindness came together to become a life-changing experience for the boy.

The post even consisted of a group picture of the boy with his friends and his gifts. Along with the materials, he also received an assurance of love, aid and support from his pals. Several people applauded the students’ selflessness and thoughtfulness. @nicolediekmann6226 remarked, “Simply great. Please, more of this on this earth. Stick together, love and  respect.” @dreadbunny added, “That's true strength. Others should take an example.”

@jack.kamali rightly quoted former U.S. President Ronald Reagan and said, “Very good. ‘We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone.’” The school also shared the generosity of the kids in a post on Facebook with a heartwarming caption, “We truly have some amazing students that take care of each other.” Many people commented on the same with encouraging words. Susi Bendowski said, “You guys are a great role model! Everyone should remember this! You guys are a great class and great friends.” Mindy Baker added, “I am so over the top proud of everyone who goes out of their way to have someone feel accepted.”
