Tall man reached his middle seat on the plane — but what the woman in the aisle said instead of letting him pass caught him off guard
Airplane seating disputes usually begin with someone asking to switch seats. This time, however, the request came before anyone had the chance to ask. The traveler explained she was boarding a flight from Denver to Dallas-Fort Worth. She happened to be walking directly behind a very tall man as passengers made their way to their assigned seats. When the man reached his row, it became clear that he had been assigned the middle seat. To move to his seat, he had to ask the old lady sitting in the aisle seat to make way for him. However, to everyone's surprise, before he could even ask anyone to move, the older woman immediately offered him her aisle seat. She voluntarily took the middle seat herself so he could have the extra space.
The traveler said she was genuinely stunned because it's far more common to see middle seat passengers trying to trade for an aisle, not the other way around. She couldn't help but tell the woman how unusual her kindness was, saying, "Absolutely nobody would give up an aisle for a middle seat for a stranger."
