Tall woman wore heels to a date only to realize he had lied about being 6-foot-1 — but what he said after she paid the entire bill made her leave
For tall women, finding a partner with a height of their preference might be a struggle. However, the physical aspect doesn't matter as much as character. A TikTok user, Nellie Newman, who goes by @nellielynnfit, was angry when she learned that the man she was set up with had lied about his height. Yet, she proceeded with the evening, hoping for the best. To her surprise, when it was time for the check, his shocking statement made her walk out on him. On May 8, 2026, the woman revealed that the experience left her unwilling to date people again.
Newman had been traumatized in the past, but after a long time, she decided to give dating another shot. She was set up with a man who revealed to her that he was 6'1". The woman, who was already tall herself, decided to wear her highest heels to the meeting. When she met him, not only did he look nothing like his pictures, but he was also 5'4". She instantly felt disappointed because he lied. The evening went on, and when it was time for the check, he told her that he had forgotten to bring his wallet, prompting her to make the payment instead. She obliged, only to be met with a statement — "You did a good job." He then explained that he was "testing" her to see if he was "expected to do everything."
The woman was utterly disgusted by his act and immediately confronted him. She clearly told him that his behavior was unacceptable and walked out of the restaurant. While paying was not the issue, the man's dishonesty and absurdity were something she was not ready to put up with. Newman's post garnered support from many online users. @musicmaker commented, "When he walked up to me, I would have said, 'Sorry, still don't see you,' and walked right out." @laurelheights77 wrote, "There are some good ones out there, but they are hard to find." @Kate supported her decision not to date and wrote, "Stopped dating at 35, I'm 41 now and at peace."
Some people assume that a "test" would help them find the right person; instead, these people turn out to be undesirable in the eyes of their dates. In another story, a woman named Queeneth was shocked when a man pretended to forget his wallet and asked her to cover an $85k bill during their meetup. While she paid the full amount without hesitation, he soon revealed he was testing her to see if she was after his money. But she fittingly replied, "A provider woman provides for a king, not a man who lies about his wallet to play games. Consider the 85k a tip for the performance."
