She called off their first date after he made her wait 40 minutes for a haircut — then his blame-filled remark confirmed she’d dodged a bullet
Being on time for a date shows respect and sets the tone for a good first impression. TikTok user Linds (@kindz_elize) had planned a date with a man in his 30s and had arrived at the location at the said time. However, his delay due to a hair appointment caused her to cancel on him. But one remark that he made left her fuming. Sharing the story with her TikTok followers on Friday, February 27, 2026, she revealed how his comment later even made her “giggle.”
@linds_elize I actually had to giggle because no way he just said that 😂 #dating #datingstorytime #datinglife #singlelife ♬ original sound - Linds
The TikTok user had planned to go on a date with a 34-year-old man and decided to meet up at 12 p.m. However, at 11 a.m., he informed her that he was going to a salon to get a haircut before the date. "I was like, interesting choice. I would love to see how the timing aligns," she remarked. She got to the location at sharp 12, and quipped that she was punctual because she was a "grown-up." However, ten minutes before the scheduled time, he texted her that he would be running late since he had just arrived at the salon. Linds decided to wait for a while before calling off the date. Unbeknownst to her, the man was about to claim she wasn’t feeling pretty enough as the reason for canceling.
As time passed, she got annoyed at him for being late and decided to cancel. Around 12:30 p.m., she texted to inform him, and he completely flipped out. He gaslighted her by complaining about her refusing to FaceTime him earlier. She explained that she had been getting her car’s oil changed and therefore couldn’t FaceTime him. However, he then told her he understood why she had refused to FaceTime and canceled the date. Baffled by his accusation, she asked him what he meant, to which he said, "I think you just don't feel pretty about yourself today." Linds, who was disappointed by his remark, shared the video and wrote, "I actually had to giggle because no way he just said that."
Soon after her post gained massive attention, with over 550,000 likes, many users praised her for recognizing the big red flags and refusing to date him. @Rachel Lynn expressed, "'You just don't feel pretty enough,' says the man who planned a haircut for his date during the date." @digitallauraanderson noted, "He was testing your boundaries. You did good, girl," @WhyYouMoveSoIcy mentioned, "You just saved yourself 2-3 years of lack of preparation/consideration, no real plans or follow through, and then being gaslit when you point it out!"
