Even though it is a teacher's job to correct their students when they do something wrong, there might be a gentler way to do it. A teacher set such an example when she corrected a girl for not following the school dress code. Mrs. Lewis, who goes by @mrslewisyall on TikTok, shared a video of her conversation with the student, and many people appreciated her kind demeanor and polite tone as she talked to the girl.

"Walk me through your process this morning," the teacher said at the beginning of the video, asking the girl to explain how she ended up choosing the outfit she was wearing. The girl said that the outfit was looking good. "So did you plan it or were you rushing?" the teacher wondered. The student answered that she was not in a rush and had decided on the outfit beforehand. "Did you do a final check and think, 'That's cute, I am going to school'?" The girl agreed and simply hummed in response. Lewis eventually found out that the student had decided to wear matching outfits with someone else on that day. "They got on what you got on? There are two of you walking around like this?" the teacher questioned.

The girl ended up admitting that the other person had changed their mind and decided to attend school in a different outfit. "Because they probably got enough sense?" Lewis remarked. The teacher calmly questioned if the girl felt that she should be allowed to wear the particular dress because those were "just clothes." When the girl confirmed that, the teacher added, "Then I have nothing to say." The student, however, wanted to know her teacher's perspective on her outfit and pushed for it. Lewis asked the girl to think about what might be wrong with her outfit. After a moment, the student said that the outfit could be considered too "revealing" or that it looked "bad."

"Well, I won't say that it is bad. It's probably just the setting, right?" the teacher explained. "Because imagine if I just decided that I was going to walk in and give it to the people. What would you say to me?" she asked the student. The girl then understood the problem with her dress. "Then I think you have figured it out on your own just now," Lewis told her. The way the teacher communicated the problem with the student blew people's minds.

@moneyballdt wrote, "All jokes aside, calmly walking through this and letting her figure this out and having some perspective on the thought process for next time is 10/10!" @carolina_sassenach commented, "The fact that not ONCE did you shame her, or make it about her body! This mindfulness and self-analysis is what our kids need more of. Thank you." @winnie.guddog remarked, "Please tell me you are running this school because this is the kind of guidance kids need to make the right decision later. You are helping them build critical thinking skills." @shekyshay chimed in, "'Cause she probably got sense enough'... Just one of the gems in this conversation. This is a master class!"
