Teen documents every dog he's pet over the years and it's a treat for the eyes
Every simple action done out of love and thoughtfulness can have a vibrant impact. There’s little we need to do on our end to make a difference and eventually, it magically pays off. A 14-year-old boy, Gideon, had an immense love for dogs and decided to turn that love into something profound. To commence this, he began with something small—petting a dog. The boy created an account titled “I’ve Pet That Dog” on X, where he regularly shared the simple act of petting a dog. Soon, he turned this initiative into something thoughtful and helpful.
The initial idea was simple. Gideon would post a picture of every dog he would come across along with its name. Soon, this turned into a creatively smart venture. The teenage boy started sharing descriptions and emotions of every dog he stroked fondly. He got to know a little more about each canine encounter and expressed the same on his page. Every post had a pawpal’s story attached to it. One of the posts consisted of a picture of a brown dog. The caption explained, “I pet Gryff. He is a 9-year-old Brussels Griffon. He is in mourning because one of his caregivers passed away. His caregiver used to take him for rides in the truck. Now Gryff whines when he sees a truck.” The teenager’s posts started holding emotions and soon touched the hearts of millions.
Eventually, the boy took things one step ahead by sharing posts about canines that required adoption, treatment or other requirements. He shared a post of a canine named Ghost and revealed her heartwarming story. “I pet Ghost. She is a good friend to her caregiver. When he lost his finger in an accident at work, Ghost helped his recovery. Petting her and playing with her helped him regain the use of his hand. He had no idea a dog could help so much. He is very grateful to her.”

Another post mentioned the story of an older dog and his slow process of learning. “I pet Jax. He moved with his older caregiver from a house with a yard to an apartment. It took him a long time to adjust to his new home. He didn’t want to be left alone and would bark each time his caregiver tried to go out. Now he is doing better and loves going on walks,” the caption read. Over time, the page even started supporting shelters and other organizations trying to help canines. Gideon would often post senior dogs who need treatment or a home. He’d also repost other organizations’ posts to bring more awareness and increase the chances of a shelter dog finding a home.

One of his posts read, “No 19-year-old dog should have to spend their final days in a shelter—which is why we’re looking for a home for Teddy. If you’d like to give Teddy the TLC he deserves, visit him at the shelter today from 12-7 pm!” Another post requested financial aid for 14 rescued beagles to find a warm space. What began as a simple love for dogs turned into a mission to transform and make a difference in the lives of these loving animals. Gideon has also started posting about cats and is expanding his goodwill, petting one animal at a time.
