Teen approaching a cute girl was left 'red-faced' because his dog's name was too embarrassing
There are a number of things people look for when they are seeking someone to date be it in their vicinity or via online apps. Although love for animals is something people usually bond over, a dog’s name being the reason a young person gets rejected or doesn’t find a date is something no one could've imagined. Unfortunately, this happened to a person who now feels he missed out on love as a teen just because of his pet's name. Sharing his story from 20 years ago on Reddit, the man mentioned that it was a baffling yet hysterical scenario.
Sharing a background of the tale, the man revealed that he moved out during his late teenage years and got a place of his own. However, he always felt the absence of a pet, particularly a dog as he grew up in a dog-loving family. “Fast forward to Christmas that year and my present is a pure-bred golden,” the man noted. He accepted and loved the pet dog and decided to name her “Holly.” Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to take her home at the time and decided to leave the dog with his parents till he was able to make space for her. “In that time, my dad listed her name with AKC as ‘Mizz Princess Hollywood’ and did the same with the vet registration,” the man mentioned.
Neither did his parents know the name he had chosen not did he know what they had decided. However, the dad registered the bizarre name he picked and that was going to have to be it. The man had no idea about the same and took home Mizz Princess Hollywood. On one of his trips to the vet as a teenager, he was waiting with his dog for his turn to arrive. “Taking her in for a check-up, going to the front desk they find her listed as her AKC name. I laugh, sigh, and say ‘just Holly,” the post read. The hilarious blunder took place when he sat down with his dog and came across another young woman with her pet dog.
“I'm sitting in the waiting room and a cute girl around my age comes in with a beautiful GSD pup and sits by me. Our pups start playing together so we inevitably talk. We're hitting it off, talking about the joys and downs of puppy ownership. Then the receptionist steps up and calls: "Mizz Princess Hollywood?" the post read. The man was left "red-faced" with embarrassment and had no idea how to respond. In his teenage mind, he was so sure he was already judged by the young girl and had no hopes.
"It didn't help that while I was still standing up there, they called out ‘Bowser’ (or something else fairly masculine) and the cute girl stood up with her pup. I just walked into the exam room red-faced and never saw her again,” he wrote. A weird name for an adorable creature left the young boy embarrassed back then and led to hilarious comments online. u/ExaltusLux wrote, “People don't think much about a name till they have to walk up and down the street screaming it if the dog runs away.” u/Dr_Vesuvius pointed out, “It's pretty standard for dogs to have weird official names. Breeders will often give them a weird name before they have owners.”
