Some unusual rituals can actually turn out to be life-saving. One teen who was used to getting ready for school late at night didn't know that her routine would actually end up saving her family's life. The teen girl, Caydence Franse, was up doing her lashes at 1:30 at night when she heard something that sounded like fireworks. She went out to check and saw smoke coming out of her room. Franse quickly got to work after that and ended up saving her whole family's life, per CBS Chicago.

"I was doing my lashes at like one in the morning," the 16-year-old recounted. She heard a fireworks-like sound and saw smoke in her room right then. Franse immediately knew something was wrong and went to check on her father and brother, who were sleeping. The teen knew that she had to quickly get her family, including her dogs, out of the house. "The whole room was filled with smoke, so I opened my window and went out through it," Franse explained. "I started banging on my dad's window and telling him that there was a fire." Her father, Shane McGrath, was awake after that and ran to get out of the house with his son and two dogs, Nicki and Zora.

"I've never heard banging like that on glass in my life," McGrath remarked. He got out of his room and went back inside to get Nicki and Zora out. All of them were able to escape the fire unscathed and just had to be treated for minor smoke inhalation. The daughter had also called 911 for help while everything went down. The dad was really thankful to his daughter for saving his life. "I think she quite literally saved my life because moments after getting out of there, my room took pretty much the worst of it aside from the garage," McGrath revealed. The family lost all their belongings to the house fire and the place had to be boarded up.

Nonetheless, all of them were thankful that they could get out of the harrowing ordeal alive. The dad promised that he would get his daughter all that she needed for her lashes. "She was up getting ready for school, doing her lashes. I told her I will buy her all the lashes she ever wants," the man joked, making his daughter chuckle. The cause of the fire was not known at that time. But the family suggested that everyone should be prepared in case there's a fire at their house after their own experience.

In another story, a Texas family had a similar experience with a house fire, per WFAA. A couple's sick two-year-old was sleeping in the living room so the parents could keep an eye on him at night. At that time, a fire started because of a gas heater in the living room early in the morning. The kid, Brandon, ran up to his parents' room and woke up his mom, saying, "Momma, hot." The couple, Kayla and Nathan, were immediately awake and could get out of the house with their five children unharmed. They couldn't smell the smoke earlier because the couple was suffering from COVID-19 and had lost their sense of smell.
