Some seemingly small promises might mean the world to the people involved. One mom waited 12 years for the fulfillment of a promise her four-year-old son had made to her. Her wish was simple. She wanted her son to take her on a date after he turned 16 and got his driver's license. The mom, Megan, remarked that she wouldn't let her son forget about the promise. Nonetheless, at 16, her son, Emerson Langton, stuck to what he had said as a kid in a special way, per Inside Edition's YouTube video.

Megan shared an old clip of Emerson as a four-year-old. She was recording him and asking him to promise something. "So tell me, when you are 16 and finally able to drive a car..." the mom began. Emerson finished her sentence and promised, "I am going to take my mommy on a date." Megan pointed out that she wouldn't let him forget what he said. "Alright, I am going to hold you to it." 12 years later, Emerson was all grown up and driving. He had gotten his driver's license at 16 and made good on his promise to his mom. He was driving and taking her on a date to make pottery. They were also going to eat out after that.

The 16-year-old asked his mom, "Are you ready to go? Where do you want to go to eat? Where are we going?" The mom was really happy that her son actually did what he said all those years ago at such a young age. "It has definitely gone by really fast. I couldn't be more proud of him," Megan expressed. The two of them ended up eating at Olive Garden after the pottery class. The son also paid for the food at the restaurant. Many people applauded the teenager for his sweet gesture and shared their own experiences in the comments section of the YouTube video.

@divahc1 wrote, "When my mum was five, she promised her grandmother that if she had a daughter, she'd name the baby after her. No one had ever named a baby after her. When I was born, the nurse came into mum's room and she said that she just had a very excited grandmother on the phone because, apparently, mum was naming the baby after her. Mum said that was right, she named me Helen. Grandma's name was Laura Helen. But there was already an aunt named Laura. Sadly, we left England when I was 3.5, so I don't remember her."

@stevencuss5496 commented, "He did good and honoured his promise. Now she has to trust how she raised him and his choice in women…they grow up so fast…He's a special boy. Olive Garden was the perfect choice because when you're there, you're family (cue Italian music with a little banjo slipped in there.) Just kidding. Good man, though, usually only single mothers raise these kinds of men, respect." @lionden4 remarked, "That is so sweet! The way I see it, the mom is always there to give him attention, love, time and is always there for him. I call it a healthy relationship. Good job, mom!"
