Teenager visited town plagued by mysterious disappearances of women — a scary encounter proved trusting her instinct saved her
It is always important to trust your intuition because it hardly ever goes wrong. When TikTok user Larissa, who goes by @rissy_roo_, was 19, she visited a town where two women had reportedly gone missing. While one was never found, the other was later located, but "the outcome was not good." With those cases in mind, one strange encounter with a sketchy man showed why she trusted her gut. On April 16, 2026, Larissa shared the terrifying experience that left her fleeing for her life.

When Larissa was shopping at a grocery store, she saw a maroon Ford Ranger truck parked outside. She particularly took notice of the shovel in the back of the truck, which she found unsettling. As she realized that the man had parked his vehicle right in front of hers while staring at her, she knew she had to seek immediate help. She went back into the store and asked a gentleman to escort her. However, as soon as the man noticed her with another adult, he quickly drove away. The man from the store commended her for not walking back alone and seeking help, since he, too, suspected the stranger had ill intentions.
Additionally, Larissa also recalled another incident when she was 16 years old. The then-teenager had visited a library. As she was going back to her car, she noticed a stranger behind her trying to initiate a conversation. A terrified Larissa immediately realized he was up to no good and sprinted to her car, locking the vehicle. Suddenly, the man appeared in front of her car, stared at her for a moment, and left. These scary situations were thankfully avoided because of her intuition. Sharing the stories with her TikTok followers, she asserted, "Be mindful, be observant, trust your gut."
According to a report by the Worldwide Independent Network of Market Research, 64% of women in America have reported not being confident about walking outdoors alone. This was attributed to the fact that 24% of women in the country experienced violence in 2019. When Larissa realized that it might not be wise to handle the situation all alone, she immediately sought help from the store staff to escort her safely outside. Her quick thinking may have saved her life at 19.
Larissa's story resonated with many women online, who shared their personal stories in the comments. @arelita878 wrote, "When I was younger, there was this man that would follow me with his truck. I don't know how he knew I was in town. He would show up out of nowhere," @Granna1215 advised, "Another thing is to stay off your phones when walking in public. I see so many people on their phones, not paying attention to their surroundings." @italianaaa17 mentioned, "My mom's job required her to read a lot of police reports…she always told me the same thing growing up."
