Texas store finds computers glitching as hordes of customers wait for Christmas groceries. Their solution made everyone stop in disbelief
What began as a frustrating checkout delay at a Texas grocery store quickly turned into a moment of holiday magic. A H-E-B store in North Texas faced a computer glitch, leaving several customers waiting in the checkout lines. However, what happened next took everyone by surprise. H-E-B offered a solution that left everyone at the store stunned and overjoyed; they bagged every item without charging a single dime from the customers. And this gesture for many came as a "Christmas miracle." All of this was recorded by a customer, Shelley Browder, who later shared the video in a Facebook group, Burleson Residents and Neighbors, which received over 2,000 likes. Browder, in the post, wrote, "This is why we love our H-E-B."
In the video, a H-E-B staff member, Destanie Lynch, can be heard saying, "We love having you as our customers. Thank you for waiting with us. Unfortunately, the computers are not coming back up right now. So today, everything that you have, we are going to bag you up. We hope that every one of you has a very Merry Christmas and continues to shop with us." The video received over a thousand views and hundreds of comments, and was shared across social media platforms.
The customers applauded and praised the store in joy as they were getting free groceries. The H-E-B director of public affairs, Mabrie Jackson, said, "H-E-B is committed to serving our customers year-round and especially during the holidays. During this busy holiday season, when our registers were temporarily down at one of our stores, we gave all those with full baskets their groceries for free. The customer experience is at the heart of what we do," reported Fox4 News. The queue kept getting longer and longer. Just then, an announcement was made, which left everyone happily overjoyed and felt like a perfect Christmas gift, shared a customer.
A few customers who were tired of waiting in line suddenly smiled with joy. "I was just thankful. I couldn't believe it, " said David Davidson, who was there shopping for Christmas. Not just customers present at the shop, but several others who saw the video later couldn't stop appreciating H-E-B for such a kind gesture. M Kathleen Ragan commented, "What a wonderful gift they gave all their customers. I wish I were in the store when this happened. We need groceries badly. Thank you, H-E-B, for the Christmas Miracle and Merry Christmas."
Similar sentiments echoed throughout the comment section. "Dang it. Should have gone to HEB today. Oh well, others might’ve needed it more than me!" wrote Karen M Kurn. "Good solution… but please don’t take advantage of a store when they are hurting," said Kim Williams Tran. A few shoppers also shared that they were turned away due to the computer glitch when they were walking up to enter the store, according to the outlet.
