The first thing Domino's employee raising newborn alone said after getting a huge Christmas tip stunned the internet
Raising newborns is a delicate and challenging process. There are many expenses that new parents have to take care of and being financially strained can be exhausting. A Domino’s employee, Nick, who is also a new father, was facing a similar dilemma with his newborn named Hailey, per East Idaho News. The dad had his share of burdens and plights and was making it through one day at a time. A local Secret Santa decided to offer help this holiday season and the employee’s response has everyone shocked. Sharing the story of the single dad, it was revealed, “Nick is a recovering addict who has been sober for nearly six years.” The dad worked long hours, full-time, along with caring for his 11-month-old daughter on his own.
While parenting can be a strenuous task on its own, Nick had the additional burden of working weary hours to make a living. Initially, the dad had exhausting working hours as early as 5 am in addition to sleepless nights and heavy-duty parenting for his child. This started taking quite a toll on him and he had to find a job with better working hours. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out and Nick had to resort to working at Domino's. With extreme love for his baby girl, the dad didn’t want to spare any effort in giving her his best. However, it seemed to be overburdening, having to do it all alone, with no family and no support or help whatsoever.
The single dad additionally has a dream to pursue further studies but with the current responsibilities, it doesn’t seem to be within the realm of possibility. While Nick believed this was going to be a struggling life for the next few years, Secret Santa had other plans. It included paying up to $7,000 to clear Nick’s rent, money for a laptop to start with some schoolwork and $1,000 at Best Buy for the baby supplies he may require. The plan unfolded by ordering a pizza and asking Nick to have it delivered to the car. As soon as Nick arrived with the order, the crew revealed themselves. “I watch you guys all the time,” he remarked. “We’re here for you tonight,” the host said.
As soon as the words hit Nick’s ears, his eyes welled up. “No way,” he exclaimed, before holding back his cracked voice from the tears. The dad further revealed that despite his hectic schedule, he also volunteers as a peer support at a rehab facility to help inspire others to get out of addiction through his example. The host then revealed the gifts one after another, starting with the money for the laptop and the diapers. As soon as Nick received his final and biggest gift - the rent money for a whole year - he broke down in tears. Seeing that he needed the money, he still found it in himself to leave everyone by surprise with his kind words. “There are so many more people that need it than I do,” he remarked. Even in his struggle, he recognized that others were also in need. He left a hopeful message for fellow parents and others who are struggling. He said, “Just keep moving forward, keep going and pushing forward. It's hard but it's worth it.”
Nick's thoughtful response made people on the internet a fan of him. "Working multiple jobs, hardly sleeps, raising a 1-year-old by himself and still says, 'There are so many other people who need it more than me.' A kind soul.
