McDonald's employee who walks miles to work gets emotional after getting unforgettable Christmas gift from Secret Santa
Life doesn't flow in the same pattern for everyone. Some have to work harder than others to make ends meet and care for their loved ones. According to East Idaho News, a young McDonald's worker named Isaiah has had a rough life so far, but his resilience and determination have carried him through the hardships. The news outlet joined hands with a local Secret Santa to give $1 million worth of gifts to East Idaho residents who deserved it the most. McDonald's worker Isaiah was one of the lucky ones.
East Idaho News uploaded a video on YouTube in 2023 to document Isaiah receiving the surprise of a lifetime. Two and a half years before that heartwarming moment, Isaiah and his siblings were sent to live with their grandma. He took up a job, attended school and even played hockey while working towards securing a scholarship. But there were massive hurdles on his way. When Isiah's grandma was diagnosed with cancer in August 2022, the young man had no choice but to drop out of school and give up his dream of playing hockey to care for his grandma and siblings.
That was only the beginning of Isaiah's heartbreaks as his grandma passed away in March 2023 and shortly afterward, his brother lost his life too. Isaiah was left to fend for himself with his older sister, who helped him to come out of his depressive state. He started working at a McDonald's outlet with his sister to support himself and hoped to save enough money to buy a home shortly. Isaiah also managed to purchase a car but it broke down the same week he bought it. As a result, he had to walk about 3 miles each day to arrive at his workplace and rely on hitching rides from strangers or friends.
The team of East Idaho News arrived at Isaiah's workplace to deliver the Secret Santa surprise to him. The moment Isaiah clocked in, the new outlet's team greeted the young man and after a casual talk about his work, the news crew presented Isaiah with a gift box. At that moment, his sister Aurelia also showed up before her shift and checked what was inside the gift box. Isaiah least expected to receive a new car for Christmas but also an additional $1,000 that he can use to pay for registration and car insurance.
He immediately got emotional and expressed his sheer disbelief and gratitude towards the Secret Santa who changed his life. The new crew took Isaiah out to show him his brand-new Honda CR-V. Isaiah looked at his car in awe as the East Idaho News host took him to the front and helped him to get behind the wheel. He instructed Isaiah about the car keys and certain functionalities as Aurelia stood nearby with a smile on her face.
"What did they tell you to get you in here?" the host asked Aurelia who had shown up in advance at her workplace. "Well they told me that I had to meet with my supervisor to talk with another coworker," she shared. But it turned out that all of it was a part of the plan to bring the brother and sister together as he got the life-changing Secret Santa gift. "He doesn’t give up on himself or let his situation define him. Isaiah has a big heart, is kind and has a contagious smile. He has goals to continue his education and get back into hockey," the description under the video concluded.
