They found a stranded pup on their second date — she became the reason they got married three years later

Dogs might offer people more than companionship at times. For one couple, a dog laid the foundation of their love on their second date. They found her at a park and weren't sure if she would make it because of her condition. 3 years later, the dog, Fiona, is doing well and the couple is married. The husband and wife, Keb and Kiana, who go by @the_rogers_hood on TikTok, shared how their beloved dog played an essential part in their love story.

"Three years ago, on our second date, we found an abandoned puppy at a park. She was covered in fleas and had parvo," Keb and Kiana wrote. "We didn't think she would make it." During the time the couple was trying to save Fiona, they could see the best in each other, even though they were strangers at that time. "This sick puppy, Fiona, became the foundation of our love story." They added, "3 years later, she is silly, sweet, smart, playful, healthy, happy and thriving." The couple is married now and have become a family of 4, with 2 adults and 2 dogs. "We don't know what our lives would be like without Fiona. We love her to bits and pieces, even when she drives us bonkers."
The couple matched on Hinge and were taking a walk in the park when they saw Fiona, per Newsweek. "We went and walked the trail there and were heading back to our cars. We stopped to talk before saying goodbye and noticed a puppy hanging out on a nearby sidewalk," Kiana recounted. "She ran over to us and immediately went into a submissive crouch. We were trying to figure out what to do with her." Things changed completely for the couple after that moment. Kiana was volunteering at a shelter and offered to call them to pick her up. But Keb really wanted a dog of his own, so he expressed that he would get her scanned for a microchip and if she didn't have one, he would like to keep her.
The couple continued to care for Fiona together for weeks and got to know each other better in the process. "Finding her really brought out our true character. Keb took Fiona home that night and she started vomiting and having diarrhea just about every hour. He was texting me through the night while staying up with her in the living room to make sure she was ok." She was then taken to the shelter to treat her parvo. As no owner came forward, Keb ended up adopting her. "I was impressed with everything he did to take care of her and he was impressed by what I did on my end to give her a chance to live," Kiana remarked. Now the dog is doing great and the couple got married in March of this year after being together for 3 years. "Our relationship likely wouldn't have evolved the same way either because of just how much Fiona catalyzed our connection," Kiana went on.

People shared their thoughts on the story in the comments section of the video. @suzy.carpenter4 wrote, "Lucky girl and lucky couple, the timing was meant to be." @officiallippstickninja commented, "Thank you for making her life. Amazing. What a beautiful girl." @sb_derek remarked, "This is the only trauma bonding I will accept." @thefinalmorey shared, "The dog was like 'Hah, jokes on you, we're ALL gonna fall in love.'"
