Innocent misunderstandings from kids often carry a charm that adults cannot help but smile at. When Threads user Sterling Masters (@officialsterlingmasters) was in an elevator, a toddler rushed over to hug his leg. But while leaving, the kid said something in gibberish that confused him. The toddler's mother later revealed what she meant, and the comment surprised him. Sharing the story with Threads users on March 9, 2026, the man expressed his reaction after the mom translated her daughter's remark.

As soon as the toddler saw him, she immediately ran over to hug his leg and bumped her head against his grocery bags. When he asked if she was alright, she replied, "Ayeyuh," meaning yes. When they were about to get out, she waved goodbye to him and the other men in the elevator. But while she called another man "Bye, Gramp," she said goodbye to Masters using another word he could not understand. The mother later clarified that her daughter had actually said "Bye God," because she thought he was Thor. The revelation left him over the moon. "Thanks, Kiddo. Needed that," he wrote.

Going by the Threads user's profile picture, the kid may have been reminded of the Marvel superhero after seeing the man's long hair and beard. Her innocent excitement at spotting someone who looked like her superhero made the interaction sweeter and clearly brightened his day. After he posted the story online, many internet users agreed with the child because of the man's uncanny resemblance to the popular Marvel superhero.

@somethingstarlike mentioned, "The best I've had is a kid running up to hug me while I was in my scrubs/polo and tell her mom she found a nurse! I didn't want to disappoint her by telling her I'm actually a social worker." @betty_spaghetti01 remarked, "Kids are so funny! My ex used to always have little girls tell him his tattoos were pretty or that they liked the pretty colors on his arms. Always made his day." @southern_sahira_z wrote, "That's one of the most adorable things I think I've read in a long time."

Kids often associate people with familiar faces they have seen in movies, cartoons, or books. In another story, a mother named Michelle Kwan shared that her three-year-old daughter, Kali, became intrigued after spotting a gray-haired vacationer. The little girl then grabbed her mother's phone to secretly take pictures of him. It turned out that Kali thought she had spotted Santa. Michelle decided to play along instead of telling her the truth and breaking her heart.
