Dad of 4-yr-old who slapped neighbor's muscle car a few times leaves a note explaining 'why' — it just made his day
Parents often try to introduce their kids to some of the things they grew up with. Whether it is a book, a game or the entire Transformers film franchise which is still wildly popular among kids and adults. One parent on Reddit, u/Doc_Toboggan, shared a moment involving their neighbor's 4-year-old son when he learned about the popular media franchise created by Takara Tomy and Hasbro Inc. The person had parked their bright blue Dodge Challenger car with an Autobot emblem attached on one side of it.
According to Vulture, the Autobots in the world of the Transformers franchise are "Autonomous Robotic Organisms" from the planet Cybertron with the ability to transform into various automobiles. They have a specific logo on them which sets them apart from their rivals, the Decepticons. So, it's only natural that the 4-year-old kid from the person's neighborhood thought that the muscle car was actually a robot that could transform. The toddler ended up slapping the neighbor's car a few times, hoping that it would transform like the Autobots.
The parents of the toddler felt they should apologize to the owner of the car and they left the car owner a handwritten apology note. "My son just started watching Transformers a few weeks ago. He is almost 4 years old and may or may not have slapped your car a few times to try and wake him up. Sorry. We took a few pictures of him with your car, you honestly made his day and possibly skewed his perception of reality for the next decade," the wholesome post from the parent read. "Thank you and Happy 4th of July."
The Reddit user and the owner of the car shared both the pictures of the blue Dodge Challenger and the apology note with the community. Reddit users couldn't deny the appeal and influence "Transformers" had left on generations of pop-culture lovers and mecha fans. u/Zabethlyburn questioned, "That is adorable. Were there handprints?" u/Doc_Toboggan replied to the comment and clarified, "No tiny handprints or bumps or anything. The kid is 4 years old and not like he really left anything behind. This was while I was over at my friend's house for the 4th. So I'm going to see if he can figure out who it was so he can meet the Transformer again next time I'm over there."
u/Reamofqtips recalled, "I used to have a motorcycle that had Decepticon badges in the tank and I had to explain to a kid at work that he was a good guy and was working for the Autobots." u/elmaoroflson joked, "Now imagine if you had set up a car alarm that sounds like an Autobot saying, 'Stop touching me!'" u/dchaosblade commented, "Reminds me of one time a kid saw my car (coincidentally, also a Blue Challenger) and thought the same thing. I was inside a barber shop in the waiting room and saw him and his dad looking at the car, so I remotely started it. The kid jumped, thought it had come to life. The kid and dad came into the shop and asked me if it was my car, then told me thanks, what I did was awesome. Was pretty cool."
